sure no one is "obligated" to award a winner here, but we all have to admit that this was a very popular contest with some incredible choices available. $300 is a VERY small sum to part with for having sourced this much talent. 99design policies aside, this is just good karma to pay for what you have received. in this case 350 designs totalling at least 100 hours of combined work.
lol i rest my case (and withdrew all my 3 star entries).

Yea KDCO's History indicated a tack record of successful contests previously, which would suggest that some exception happened here. Thanks for updating us.
To all who are frustrated. There's also a good side to no-one winning. Then, you can't lose, ha-ha...

Wow, that was impressive KDCO. Thanks for the update.
I have the impression that they will, eventually, choose a design from this contest. Or did I read that wrong.
Thanks again. -

Apparently a post I left here did not take - sorry for that.
This contest was held on behalf of a client. They have indicated that they like several of the comps, but have not given me their preference yet. Multiple inquiries to the client have resulted in "were still looking". It has been very frustrating.
We have no reason to believe that a selection will not be made, and we are candidly red-faced and embarrassed that we are not able to award a winner yet. We have our favorites, but that doesn't count for this contest, which was held on behalf of a client. Previous contests that we have held have been for projects we solely control. Lesson learned. In our future posts, our policy to the client will be "you are required to make an award, or declare no winner" within 3 days of close.
Now, to address the PM and public posting of "design president".
We understand and share your frustration, but there are no token awards, or required awards in 99Designs. We have seen contests (not this one) where the submissions were not at all worthy of the prize. We (KDCO) play by the rules. There is nothing unethical about honoring the system, and there were no "false pretenses". As former software developers, and current web developers, we take VERY SERIOUSLY the rights of Intellectual Property Holders. We have previously awarded, and withdrawn from contests - with written disputes to 99Designs, because the winning entry was a flagrant Copyright or Trademark infringement.
We have had or share of bumps in the road, but honor the work of the designers, and would not publish, create derivative works, or in any way use, directly or indirectly the work product of any designer without paying for it.

judging from earlier commentary by the CH and maximum star rating of 3, it appears he/she was unhappy with all of the designs.
in my opinion, to source over 300 designs for just $300, and not select a winner out of token respect for the work provided, is quite unethical. Without a winner it is a contest held under false pretenses. Wether the right logo was found or not is irrelevant. CH's should commit to selecting a winner once a contest is underway.
