I like the direction you are headed. The logo you made is the closest to what I had in mind so far, but not exactly what I had in mind. Here are some changes I'd like to see...
Site layout
- Decrease the size of "Sound" to match more closely to the size of iPod and Review.
- Clean up the search window area. The cutout of the darker blue area doesn't seem to be straight along the bottom and the curves don't really match up well to the curves of the actual search window (it's distracting).
- I like the headphone graphic behind the "Welcome" section but it's not fitting since we are focusing on stereos, sound docks, and bookshelf/desktop type sound systems for the iPod.
- Add a breadcrumb trail under the nav links.
- Any vertical sections will probably be used for ad space. Can you create 1 long vertical section instead of the 2 for Featuerd Article and Latest Reviews?
- Change the Welcome Section to news
- Change the news to Featured Article
- Add a 3rd horizontal section for Latest Reviews
- Change the background color from fading to solid dark color
- Change blue to a different color. Looks too similar to altec lansing's site. Try orange, a lighter blue, or a green. I want the color used to be somewhat bright (think iPod's commercials).
Logo
- Remove the black between the speakers and the iPod (let the background color come through) Basically I want Speaker|Sound Dock w/ipod|Speaker. I had in mind for all 3 components to be solid white, the tweeter/woofer, ipod screen, and sound dock screen to have the bacground color showing through.

Thank you for your latest design entry.
I noticed you have implemented a lot of the changes. Thank you.
Here are some of the things that stick out to me now...
Site Layout
- Moving the search window from the header to the nav bar wasn't a bad idea, but now the header seems totally disconnected from the everything below it.
- The nav bar seems too tall. I don't know if that was necessary to make room for the search window or what, but it just seems kinda chunky now.
- The same goes for the breadcrumb trail section...seems too tall
- Since this is mainly a review site, I think the Latest Reviews section should be more prominent and above the fold. The nav bar links go News, Reviews, Articles. I think the content windows should follow the same order. Can you change it to 3 col layout with News being the first column, Reviews being at the top of the middle column with Articles being underneath, then the ad space to the right like you have it?

I see the changes you made to it but I'm still not really crazy about it. I suggest you take another look at my initial critique and try again.

I don't like the jagged lines around the speakers though. I would rather have them removed. If you're trying to illustrate sound coming out of the speakers, I think fading arcs would look better.
In regards to having it coded, what are my options?

Sheesh...let me try to explain what I was trying to visually show.
I would like the main body of the site to be divided into 3 columns.
First column - News (~20%width)
Second column - Reviews (~65% width, top 50-60% of center column)/Articles (same width as reviews, bottom 40-50% of center column)
Third Column - Ads (remaining width of body)
Let me know if you have any questions.
