for the contest Logo for disability cycling organization
Submitted design #3
Here's my proposal. I actually used as reference a picture of Gareth's bike, diminished it into its basic shapes for simplicity. I hope you like this. Works well also as monochrome. Feedback please.
Submitted design #4
A version with the tagline.
Thanks for the submission, and also thanks for taking the time to reference my source material!
Of the styles shown in #3 and #4, I prefer the BikeAble name all as print as opposed to doing half in script. My preference there stems from my overall reaction to the look and the knowledge that anyone with a level of visual impairment will have an easier time making out block letters than script.
I'm mixed on the bike. On the one hand, I love that it conveys two people working together to ride, which BikeAble really is all about. On the other hand, depicting a particular style of bike (in this case, Gareth's tandem) perhaps conveys a preference for that style rather than a bi/tricycle agnosticism.
At first glance, I was concerned how the logo would reduce to two colors, but the sample across the bottom allayed any fears. It looks great.
Submitted design #23
Another go, with a unique twist in the middle part of the gear.
Presented also in various formats. Color variations are endless.
The formats presented in #23 are actually something I had considered very early on (before posting the contest) - the concept of a "chain" wrapping the organization name and connecting to a gear. Nicely done!
