Brief Summary

Need a new logo or design for an existing nightclub located in Austin Texas. The name of the club is "SIX" or "Six Lounge". We currently just spell out "SIX". We are looking for other creative ways to visualize "SIX" on T-shirts and Hats. Any variation of "SIX" either by numbers, letters or symbols. You can look at our current logo at www.sixlounge.com

  8. Hi college44, what kind of music is predominantly played at the nightclub? What kind of crowd frequents the nightclub? Age group of the crowd? These things are important when creating a logo, if you play rock music and everyone designs something more urban, its not a good representation of the nightclub. Thanks.

  16. Hi everyone, thank you for submitting so many wonderful entries. We are so grateful to have over 140 options. Unfortunately, this limits me from being able to respond to each designer before eliminating their submissions. There are several submissions that we have rated to show what we are looking for, so please feel free to elaborate on your previously eliminated ideas to get back in the running with a better guide for what we need. We will probably choose at least 5 designs, so thank you for continuing to work on this project.

    dont know if thats meant to be sarcastic, i think it is, but if so you're spot on from what i see so far. Its awesome be so creative as to pull off a SIX by replacment with a number of 6 relating thing, but to be honest, some of the faves are reading as SX, and probably would be read that way by 80 percent of the average public. i think the CH may not be seeing the forest through the trees on this one. just my 2 cents. some very solid ones are left though, this commentary only applies to a few of them.

    since this logo looks to be sub branding and not the actual logo of the club, perhaps they can get away with the distortion

  18. sometimes being a bit mysterious or at first glance being not perfectly legible can be an attention getting tactic. as long as it can be figured out without being an IQ test. as for my logo (which is one that may fall into the category of your 2 cents/sarcasm) I think the big "6" in the middle as negative space might be a clue to your highly reasearched statistical 80% of the average public that you assume will not be able to figure it out. A night club is a bit different as most of their business is word of mouth and you could just have a secret symbol as a logo and still be ok. As for the person that isn't able to find his friends at "SIX" for a night out but drove by the "SX" club 10 times thinking "jeez this is the right address, but wrong club"... i don't think you want them consuming alcohol in your establishment anyway.

    Thanks again for all of the awesome submissions. Just to update...we're really looking for about 4 or 5 designs that we will select as winners. Just to give some further pointers as to what we're looking for, we don't want anything that uses the number 6 to replace the S in SIX. It just ends up looking like GIX, especially when printed on small merchandise. We are fine with using the number 6 to replace the G in LOUNGE if you choose to use the full name SIX LOUNGE. Also, we are not looking for anything will bubble type font...I apologize for not knowing the proper names. Last of all, we have a management team of 5 people that are reviewing the submissions, that is why it is taking a little while for us to narrow down the entries. Thank you all again for your hard work.

    the idea of counting in sticks was palmateers'...

    having said that,
    i'm reading those as a guy's "notches on a bedpost" (cant imagine women would like that association)
    or worse, a serial killer's count of how many bodies he's murdered.. yikes...

    but regardless.. at least it is a unique graphic approach.. a concept.. which belongs to the original person..
    a change in direction of the 6th stick does not make it a new concept..

    Just to clarify...the tic marks (as in "counting in sticks") has nothing to do with serial killers or bedroom encounters. It is how bartenders would record the number of drinks their customer ordered to ring into the cash register. You know...before the fancy new software came along. He he...y'all are a funny group.
