for the contest New Aircraft Company looking for a sleek, sharp logo
Submitted design #182
my first proposal.
concept:
- flying bird
- wind
- the "N" letter
open to suggestions
kind regards
Hi Ascetic, The proposal is very pretty indeed. However, if you re-read the brief you'll realize that we're looking to generate the following emotions from the logo: Highest quality, safe, sleek, efficient, comfortable, spacious, affordable, intuitively easy and fun to fly aircraft.
The N is immaterial, unless it can be part of communicating the intent. Of course you could also think of the logos of Tesla-Motors, Ferrari, Aston martin and so on... which have their identifing character as part of their logo. If thats the case, we still need to work on the intent/emotion angle.
Dear Ascetic, forgot to add, that its a privilege to have good designers such as yourself to add value to my competition. thank you, best regards, tap.
I'm working a new concept according to your requirements.
it is a privilege for me to enter this contest :)

- I'm maintaining the bird concept because its still the strongest symbol to represent beauty and elegant flying object in the air.
- if you look closer you'll see that its both the head of a bird and a bird itself. so there are actually two bird views. this is to represent a concept that your airplane is a transportation vehicle which emphasizes on "flying/thinking like a bird" :)
- the upper curve tries to mimic an airplane's wing to represent a concept that a plane can also be as sleek and elegant as a bird.
- colors are of course replaceable according to your preferences, I've put small BW version to show that its compatible with the minimum colors.
kind regards
looks very nice. Now that I understand the thought behind it, it will be very helpful to have it a bit detailed... with slight variations. Lets see what comes out. Fantastic.

thank you for your feedback. highly appreciated.
this time I made some small variations emphasizing on the bird head by giving eye on it. it is also an abstract of airflow (the air comes from the right side) based on your video.
kind regards
Hi Ascetic, if the flow were to be from right to left, then the airfoils at the end of the bird's head should be inverted in direction. As they are now, airfoils are looking at flow coming from left to right. The airfoils usually see airflow coming toward them on their leading edge which is rounded, and leaving at the trailing edge which is like a knife. BTW I'll like to see the curves without the eye as well as with it to see how it works. Can you please send me a write up about how you think it works for our image: creation, development and long term sustainance? I'll use it to share it with my team members. Thank you, sincerely, TAP.

stationary, favicon, business card design, basically just to give you an idea on how the logo will look like on different kinds of media.
more additions to the concept:
- the main concept is sleekness and elegance while still maintaining the most beautiful flying object in the air.
- the contour of the curves resemble the airflow.
- the airfoils can also be seen as the bird's feather.
- the bird is actually "flying" which is to emphasize the airplane itself as a "flying vehicle" :)
- when you look at the logo you will actually see a leaf with the airfoils as the dew. This is to symbolize the eco-friendliness while not necessarily using green pallet.
kind regards

this is to give you an idea if the logo is being printed on both side of the rear end of the airplane.
as you can see the image can actually flows together with the airplane.
this my last design before another feedback :)
Kind Regards
Hi @Ascetic, I just realized that the bottom airfoil should be straight (inverted), perhaps in the line and slightly below that of the lower curve. Since when you put it on the vertical-stabilizer, I realized that the upside-down airfoil is actually bad for the flow. I like your concept quite a bit.

Hi Folks, my team has finally come up with the following statement:
1. We are delighted with the wonderful response by the designers on the 99Designs site. While we have selected the three candidates as winners of this contest, there are small issues (something needs to be tweaked here or tweaked there). There were many designs that came up in the last few hours of closing of the competition, but were in a raw state, which could've been developed into a more powerful design than the one that we've currently selected.
2. The winners (subject to some small tweaks) are thus as follows #332 is a very novel way of putting sleek curves that represent a birds head and airfoils in a simple elegant shape. Thus #332 is our top choice.
3. #289 is our second choice, however, we would like a dark font (perhaps of the same color as the logo). Even though you have an issue with the Mazda inspired logo, many women who we spoke with loved this over others, their reason was that this logo personified all the elements we were trying to portray.
4. #327 is our third choice. It was liked by the contest holder and some male members of the team very much, although the women were totally not in its favor.
In all of the above there are small tweaks necessary. Since I, (yours truly TAP), am new to the 99designs.com site, I'd like to understand how can we give three prizes? Can we give three prizes and request the entrants to make small tweaks on their logos to finally win the prize or is this "time's-up"?
