for the contest Pervasive DataSolutions Redesign
Submitted design #21
Hi,
For my entry I decided to start off with a product page instead of the homepage. To me, it's the only logical way to go about it. Newspapers don't start layout out the front page before writing articles either ;-)
Let me know if you'd like to see any changes.
regards,
Simon
Like the product list on the left, but what happens when we get 10 to 20 products how would that secion work to select products?
The design is good, but the color scheme for some reason does not get the professional image acrosss, could be the light blue background in the contetn pane or the cloud background behind the page...not sure can you try some other combos..?

Here is my revision. Overall I've tweaked the contrast and color usage of the design and I did some small touchups.
If the product list would grow to 5-6 I would keep the current design. The box at the top can just expand vertically. If the number of products would grow beyond that we could use a "more products" button that causes a layer to fly over the main content with the remaining products. When a visitor selects a product, the layer collapses again.
Alternatively, if many products are listed, we could make a product index page if you will. Such a page would only contain the current top product selection box, not the main content box, and it would fill the vertical space. Visitors can then click on a product that interest them, read the short description, and opt to click through to the actual product page.
Possibly we could group the products in the list by type or use.
Having to redesign or add pages after the fact isnt somehting that excitesme, am really lookig for a desgin that scales with our growth ...
Well then an expandable submenu or an up / down arrow to navigate the projects would work and be future-proof.
However, I think the real issue is that you don't quite like my design, which is no problem. I can only wish you the best of luck with choosing the right design for you.
regards,
Simon
