for the contest Killer Real Estate Logo: I'mma Lay The Competition Six FT Deep
Submitted design #5
here's my take!
now its a little on the complex side, but i think ive handled it in a way that keeps it very fresh and true to the tuscon style, and as simple as possible considering how many elements i have been able to introduce.
its definitely not your average real estate logo!
Submitted design #6
slightly more simplified (removed the distant saguaro )
very, very hot. i really like the arizona state with the great details inside it. thumbs up. but with the lettering, is there a reason why the "r" is orange? and is there a reason why daily is shorter than TRE?
if there's reasons why, i want to hear your take, but if there's no particular reason, i think we're going to need some changes.
#6 > #5
and can you add the tagline? "Nobody Transacts Tucson Better."
so maybe you have to raise the TRE and put TRE & daily together, and have TRE & Daily's font to be the same.
with the tagline under it.
yes, i agree the lettering definitely needs to be resolved..will work that out..stay tuned for more samples w/ tagline! cheers

im still gonna take a longer look at the type setting, but overall i am really liking this!

here's a look at a stacked arrangement of the type.
oh just a quick explanation on why i made the R orange in the original..i was trying to figure out a way to get people to read them as letters, and not "Tredaily" rather T-R-E-Daily.
in the end though, its probably better to ahve TRE in a single color, since it just plain looks better.
Also, i tried T.R.E.Daily, but then you'd get people typing in your url incorrectly :)

this is probably my favorite type arrangement
Mr. President,
I had a question.
Is there a reason that the TRE Daily and the tagline are not vertically aligned with the state? Is it because the TRE Daily is centered vertically from the state?
And what do you think between the orange TRE and the black TRE? What's your take on it? Should the TRE be orange because TRE (Tucson Real Estate) is hot, and Daily should be black cause it's like a newspaper? Newspaper printed in black ink?
-Ron
thank you! i'll touch base in a few days! good luck with the contest, and i'll submit more if anything amazing hits me.
thanks for the invite and a very well written brief. was a pleasure to work on.
Mr. President,
what is your take on the orange/black TRE?
I looked at it again, and because the state is majority-ly orange, the black TRE works much better in a way. It's more balanced.
... makes you go, HMMM...
Thank you man, this is an incredible job.
just realized it. you spelled tucson wrong. you spelled it tuscon.
the orange state, black TRE, orange Daily has balance.
can i see the favicon design also?
If you read this, you don't have to read my previous messages.
*You spelled Tucson incorrectly in the tagline.
*Can you create a favicon image now?
*Can I see the distance of TRE Daily and the tagline's vertical separation cut in half the length?
As you can see, right now you're the top and only contender.
yes, i think black TRE works best because it creates balance, as you mentioned.
This way the logo is bookenended by that hot orange color.
I'll correct the spelling, and move the name a little closer to the logo.
as far as the favicon goes, let me think on this a bit! there are a lot of elements in the logo that we can use to make a favicon, but it has to be something very very simple and small. I've done a few favicons in the past, so I know the limitations of a favicon. i'll make sure you have one to look a by tomorrow!
and is it possible to also see some plays with the background color?
and can you bring TRE & Daily a little more closer together? Half the distance, and of course, fix the tagline to fit with it.

ok my man! here are some color samples.
i have to admit im pretty married to the original, but i do like these new ones.
the top row is the original (SLIGHTLY lightened the yellow)
second row is the earth tones of orange
third row is earth tones of red.
(tried greens, but they just didnt work at all)
other changes ive made here include bringing the DAILY a little closer to TRE.
i agree with this move, but dont advise any closer than this. if its printed in black and white, you still want there to be some separation between those 2.
also moved the tagline up a little bit. i agree with this move too.
i'm now working on a version of the original on a dark background to give you an idea how that might work!
Submitted design #50
here's how it might work on a color
in this case its an orange, which i recommend because it delivers a stronger brand image for arizona..
i can make on on black too, but overall i dont recommend black as a background for your brand. its just not a color that should be used in large amounts when one things of tucson.
also note that i have put a slight space in between the T and the R (it was previously connected) let me know what you think about that. im fine with it connected, but thought there may some people who would need separation in order to read those letters 100 % properly.
the earthtones look like some peanut butter and jelly! slap that logo on some wonda bread!
