CH..
if i may..
i know clients often worry about being "corporate" enough or "serious looking" enough..
and i tell them to think back..
and imagine that someone had to get up one day and had to say:hello i'm from a new company called ... Yahoo! ( with cartoony multicolored type and a man yodeling!)
or
hi.. i"m from .... Google! (with a primary colors puffy logo.)
or
"hi, Im from Monster
(well.. originally monsterboard) but with a purple and green monster mascot that was anything but corporate. The names AND identities of all 3 were not corporate..
but their names and identities were IMPACTFUL and MEMORABLE
(and of course. backed by a good product and service.)it just makes me smile to think about the weird looks that those peoples must have gotten at first,
but look a them now.. ; ) -

I didn't say anything about them needing to decide a logo right away. I just made an observation about the CH not logging onto the site in over 3 days, and was wondering why. Thanks.

We're still here. JR's right - but it can be even longer than that. Having done work for the IBMs and Sonys and top agencies of the world, these guys don't expect anything done in a week to be much more than a sketch, a brainstormed direction. The fact that we all have machines that can make something appear to be final doesn't mean the design is final. While you guys may have contest holders that will actually take your work and directly incorporate it into their image, it's just as likely that its a way of bouncing design ideas around for future development.
We don't disagree about the worst or even the middle, we disagree about the top - and it's not "which among these do we use?" but "who else is using something close?" "what will it make an investor think?" "what are the dozens of ways we must use a logo and how does this choice work?" and "even though it's the best of this bunch, is it good enough for our purposes?" Thanks and stay tuned.

Kim.. you've never had to postpone something for 3 days...??
i have clients that take WEEKS to decide on a logo. ( they may have many people that have to make a decision, and one of those people may have been on vacation, or had an emergency.. be patient..
contest end date does not mean they need the logo that DAY... : )

Hey guys - thanks for this amazing variety. Just as there are a lot of you, there are a lot of us - and some of your designs are so recent we won't have a chance to review them all by the time the clock stops. I promise we'll start giving feedback. We have our internal disagreements - just as you'd find with in-person clients - some like graphic devices, some hate them. Some like classical fonts, some like edgy ones. Some like literal things others don't. Some like monogram "C's" some don't. Some like symbols - others don't. No matter what you put in a brief it's a rorschach. There are some - at both ends of the spectrum - that we agree on.
We've deliberately abstained from too much specific commenting - having worked with some of the very top graphic artists we've learned to give you space - sometimes a comment can step on the best idea which hasn't shown up yet.
