for the contest Bistro Logo
Submitted design #43
highlights the U that makes the word unique,
by integrating the cup..
it creates ONE cohesive brandmark....
not a logo on side or top that can be swapped out randomly with another icon.
this all works well together as one unit..
Notice that cup is both a COFFEE or a cup of SOUP..
( the color is more caramel than coffee brown to achieve that ambiguity)
stylish and certainly distinctive
approachable, friendly but with a bit of sophistication.
i think it just fits.
Submitted design #45
without the beige outline.. gives it a bit more sophistication..
Submitted design #46
simplified...
with more legible arrangement of letters ( looses some of its uniqueness, but still holds up.)

Submitted design #50
much simper desing.. just highligting bistro
We like #50 though we find that Bistro is standing out too much.
Submitted design #82
revised Bistro. less prominent and more legible
Submitted design #83
premium version of the same concept...
We like the idea... Though we were wondering how it would look with different background colours and font colours?
Submitted design #105
example color pallete...
'ive shown you some warm colors on the left column ( reddish / yellow tones)
and some cool ( bluish) colors on the right column.
The beauty of this design is that it will work across MANY colors.
its hard to match the logo color on all materials for a restaurant... where there's fabric or other non-printed items to consider..
awnings, tablecloths, aprons ... unless you use a common color, (or black or white) its unlikely they'll never the exact shade of color to match your logo..
and certainly not going to match when dealing with different companies .
( unless you custom make them of course...
so when matching colors for a restaurant..
its often better to have a color PALETTE of several complementary colors...
that work together... so you don't have to MATCH each item.. as long as the color all go together. (for example.. golds, browns and earth tones,)
We like the idea, we just think there is something missing.
Submitted design #148
another with just a bit of extra graphics communicating that european flavor..
without being literal and showing food.

I liked the way you had the word "bistro" before. Though when you change the background it doesn't seem to work.
I am not sure I like the shadow drop on the background.
Submitted design #190
revised..
I am not sure I like the way there is only one colour for the logo "plate" or sign... can that be changed? what if beige doesn't go with everything etc?
but beige DOES go with everything.. : ) what because the logo is in the box.. you CAN place it on ANY color... (see #105 )
in fact.. now that the "bistro" is within the container... it can be placed on any color you want.. do you have a specific color i can show you it on..?
Submitted design #230
color explorations with much deeper colors an dramatic backgrounds, as requested.
note that this can be placed on any color.. thats the benefit of the white..
and that this is still VERY LEGIBLE>. no mistaking what it says... and decidedly authentic european bistro feeling...
the white is reminiscent of crisp linens and fine porcelain cups......
the blue especially feels sort of more french..
and blue would be an easy color to match your aprons, napkins, etc.
than the caramel brown colors which you seem to be favoring..
