for the contest Page Design for Womens Tour Site
Submitted design #9
Hey Steve,
Here's my entry. I believe I've met all the requirements of the brief. Naturally anything can be changed upon feedback from you or the client.
Hi Nadia, Thank you for your submission.
Nice use of contrasting elements and colors and the flower graphic. Creates a nice amount of vibrancy. Could have a touch more line variation to take it out of rectangular's ville. But overall, looks good.
I didn't specify the actual existing sites url because firstly, it looks danm awful. Second, we didn't want many of the elements bought into the new site as they are now. We didn't want any of the old copy and tour details (which you added at the bottom) in the design while assessing designs.
From the clients feedback we have established this:
1) the reddish band needs to be more pink with a hint of white thrown in somehow and the pattern slightly more visible.
2) take the tours info off the page.
3) wrong slogan. we need interesting itineraries for women. The dreams one will be incorporated somewhere else in the site. Maybe you could try placing it somewhere in a container in the main intro text. That text copy from the old site is going to be completely rewritten by our copywriter so could you plese include dummy text.
4) the slide show placeholder needs to be not quite so deep and not the full 780 width.
5) the lime looks attractive but maybe the color could be introduced somewhere else on the page because I feel that once the image in the slideshow changes those elements will look lost.
6) the logo is to large and the header/logo rectangle is to deep.
7) the whole page is too long.
Thank you Nadia
Steve
Ok, feedback taken on board.
1. What you call reddish band, is actually a hot pink with a swirly pattern added as an overlay, I checked it on 2 monitors here and it looks the same on both of them.
3. Not sure what the slogan is meant to be "we need interesting itineraries for women" ? I'll leave that area blank for now anyway.
4. Do you have a preference on the size of the slide show area ?
The rest I'll get to later.
PS: This is a first, usually people want to see what their own copy looks like, hence taking that and placing into this design :-) Dummy text on it's way.

Another option.... The little flower on the navbar is shown on hover of a particular menu item.
Hi Nadia and thanks for the re-submittal(s) :-) The existing site was/is a very sore point for the client, so I am wanting to avoid referencing it as much as possible. I also wanted the client to view the designs with completely fresh eyes.
Design #11
I think we are both a little confused over our different analogies of color descriptions with the pink, but anyway, what you have done here looks good, coherent and more fluid. It's also interesting how you have bleed the bg header color into the logo on #11. Good use of tying image elements (the flower) into the whole site. The slogan is: 'interesting itineraries for women'. The slideshow is sitting pretty good how you have it now.
Design #13
Looks pretty good. Like the idea of the flower on roll over. The different use of the bg band and vertical gradient is interesting.
I will discuss both of these with the client tomorrow and get back to you. :-)
Steve
Hi Nadia, Sorry i forgot. The client would like to see a particular image in the slideshow position, Could you please add. I will include it in the brief section. Many thanks.

Sorry Nadia about not getting back to you last night. I have been seriously burning the candle at both ends for many months now, so I just had to retire for the day. I know you have made the changes now, but yes, I was quite happy for you crop away to make the image sit better in the design.
Steve
Hi Nadia,
Congratulations. I will pm you to work out the details.
