So from the brief, it looks like you just need an informational page, rather than having any tours featured on the home page - is that correct? Do you need search boxes etc incorporated into the design?
Also, the first example link - you mention a ribbon, I'm afraid I don't see any ribbon, just a band sitting mid-screen that stretches to fit the max. window width :-)

Hi Nadia,
No, no search box needed and the tours will be listed on it's own page. But we need an optin box, special offers box and a 'women's quote of the day' box (sorry, will include that in the brief now).
Oops, bad description :-) Yes the band is what I was referring to, I have just gotten so used to calling it a ribbon. That is a site I designed a while back and the client really liked that 'band' and the site. But of course, I don't need this site to be fixed on the y axis.
So the site needs to be Professional, Classy, Clean but not boring and lifeless. I will also add the menu items needed to the brief now!
Just fire away if I have missed something.

I am very sorry everyone, I just realised that the clubmed link in the brief was going to the dot com page not the dot com dot au. Please check again now.

Hi people, I am about to get on my soapbox here for a minute so those with a weak constitution may want to turn the other ear...
I have to say that I don't really understand many designers powers of financial deduction here at 99designs. I am sure a lot of people look at this contest and think, arhh it's not enough money, I'll go and submit a design for that comp that's offering $700! It seems to me that people are very easily blindsided by the total dollar amount completely forgetting that for that money you also have to do 3-4 times the work!! Now call me simple but; 1 page designed and uncoded = $280, versus, 5 pages designed! and coded! = $750-ish. Now, I'm no rocket scientist, but it would seem to me that the former is not such a bad deal when you compare the work needed to be done in this type of comparison.
What I'm getting at is this: If $280 for 1 page - design only - is not enough to attract even 3-4 entries, then why the hell do designers (8-10) flock to a $750 contest that is requiring 3-4 times the work to be done when there is not even 3-4 times the prize being offered! Crazy logic! Even if it was $900, it still doesn't make sense. Crazy! Crazy!
Oh well, thank you to those who have submitted, I really appreciate it.

Hey Steve,
Just so you know, I've just about finished my design, but it's 2am here now and too tired to complete it 'this morning'. :-) Will submit tomorrow sometime. -

Hi,
I'll work on a design also. There still are 3 days left in the contest so probably more designs will be submitted.
Best wishes.

Hi Steve,
I love you comments. I found this out the hard way, but it stuck. But like you said, it's not rocket science, basically common sense. I put your contest on my watch list when it was first listed. I needed to finish up a couple of designs before starting on your contest. I will be submitting a design. It's great to see a Contest Holder provide feedback and comments. It is getting to be a rare
find. -

Many thanks to Nadia, saroidata and Createabit for letting me know about your plans. I really appreciate it.
I have provided feedback for everyone so far, I am trying to be tactful but also honest with the designs needs. I am really looking forward to seeing how the next 2 days play out with submissions.
Createabit, thank you also for your acknowledgments.
Warm Regards

Hi again, I have posted a few similar details in different designs feedback area so I thought I would put it here as well for everyone to see easily. A few updates and a bit more clarity from the brief I guess.
Could you please:
1) keep the band color close to that specified in the brief and try not to make it look to 'boxey' even though yes, it is a rectangle I know. Maybe introduce some subtle white(?) into it somehow.
2) 'not' make the slide show placeholder full width, and keep it to around 160ish deep.
3) try to avoid the whole site from being completely 'boxey'. sereiodata's (#8) submission has some elements that break the rectangular fever.
4) maybe try some subtle shading on/in/around the logo.
Hope this is constructive for everyone.
Warm Regards

Hi everyone,
I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and everyone who submitted a design for this contest. There has been a good range of submissions from a broad range of designers, and for that I am grateful. Unfortunately, as always, there can only be one design which is suited to the purpose that the client thinks will do the job best. Sorry if people had submissions in the works but time has indeed run out for us.
On this occasion the client has decided to go with Nadia P's #16.
Congrats.Warm Regards
