Here is my concept according to your brief. Man walking his dog with his thumb up because he digs his pet!! Feedback appreciated!!! Hope you like!
Hi jpan06 - thx for the entry and for bringing us our first thumbs up theme. The illustration is great and you clearly have the style. I like that how u separate the words with color, however the colors are a bit dark and safe. I'm not looking for neon, but safe, darker colors may not be where we lean - though if done well, then we'll change gears.
I think we are pre-disposed on the thumb concept to seeing somethine more 'in your face' and maybe just the hand so that the details clearly show a thumb. In this illustration, it's not perfectly clear that it's a thumb he/she is holding up. Also the dog looks great, but plays very strongly to our largest audience and it's probably better if we use pets, to strike a broader appeal not just the popular appeal. And lastly, the wavy highlight reminds me of one of the major, US pet retailers - I think it's petsmart.
I like ur style, just would like to see u shake it up a bit.

yeah..kind of cool, u've brought the dig out, like how u worked in the tag and .com, great illustrations. I'll prob ask for the dog tail to be a little flatter, but that a detail we don't have to do until i show these to my partner. like the colors - balance btw cool and warm, safe/comforting to edgy/bright. the only thing that may end up a concern is the pet within a pet illustration - i've definitely seen that a few time and with our connection to a large natural pet food mftr, we will be playing with the big dogs (sorry) so uniqueness will factor in. let's keep it, i will show it, but i'd love to see something with an entirely new twist from u - something outside the box. great job - thx!
u know, i can't help but wonder if this would 'pop' with a different, leaning towards fun, font with some bright colors.

that;s kind of what i was thinking - cool thx. do u think combining 27/24 makes it too busy?? i love the genious in the fish bowl - that's the kind of thinking that's going to 'bowl' us over and give us instant recognition and separate us from a very crowded pack in our genre - there's no shortage of pet communities, just a shortage of pet communities done well.
i'm really close to giving 24 4 stars, but will wait on my partners input later today. my only concern is research the usage/possible overuse of the cat within the dog concept.

here are my partners notes on #27:
Ahhh. Finally a thumbs up. I like this design the more I see it, probably for that reason only. I would liked to have seen some pets incorporated into this design. I also think the "D" could use some tweeking. Maybe a different, more skin toned color, and a more subtle hole in the center. Not sure if the "G" is part of the font set, but it's a little crazy looking. It doesn't line up with the "P" right beside it. But again, I like this concept with the hand. I would like to see this design meshed with the first design (#24) and see what comes out.
my partners notes on #24:
This is my first favorite design. I like the incorporation of different pets. I also like the work because where it is, but my wife felt the .com should be below the word pets, and I think I agree.
My thoughts on #24:
lets make the dog smaller (keeping the cat size so that it is more proportional to the dog) and give a litte space between them and the font - also think they should be sized so that the dogs nose is no higher than 'because'. I like the .com playing off the t shelf, but agree that it might balance out to move it down. Also lets take down both 'because' and '.com' 1 pt.
