Brief Summary

We're a young, new, vibrant law firm based in Austin, Texas. We need a new website that will capture our new venture's soul. We are just starting our new business and need a good internet presence that will say "wow" these guys are different, know who they are and what they stand for, and are, at the same time, professional. Its a hard thing to mix, but I know you guys can do it. You blew us away with the logo competition we had.

Just a suggestion, the brief is *very* hard to read.... Not sure if you can go back in there and give some breathing room between paragraphs? :-)

    Guys -

First, I'm sorry about the formatting on the brief. I tried to fix that when I first uploaded it and the site will not let me. I have now typed that twice and still no luck. Here is my solution. I have posted the full design brief, along with other information, at a website. you can easily get it there. The site is: http:/idisk.mac.com/joelpace-Public

    Thanks

    Joel.

Hi everyone - Here are some additional comments following up on romio's questions:

I'm not a web professional, but I will try and answer your questions.

I recently led a re-design of my old law firm's website. It can be found by going to the site www.dwlaw.com. This will be similar to the content that we will have on this site. I wrote all of the content on the site, so feel free to steal it/use it. :-) Just substitute "Levatino|Pace" for "Davis & Wilkerson". Use this content and you will be fine.

The new site as we envision it now will be broken down into the home page and several pages under that. The main subpages will be Attorney Bios, Practice Areas, Articles & Resources, Community Service & Pro Bono, Contact Us/Email/Directions, and possibly a blog. The Attorney Bio pages are where where we have information about the individual lawyers. For us, this is our product or service that we are selling. We will have a way to download a PDF of the resume and/or print a printable version. Practice Areas will describe the services that we offer and why they should hire use. We'd like to have area relevant photos on each of these. Contact Us/Directions - we see this as a page that has direct contact information via phone, mail or email. Also, our office is a bit hard to find so we are going to create a Illustrator map that shows where it is, an Articles & Resources Page where we can post legal articles and other links to resources that our clients may find helpful. The blog page is still up in the air.

As far as the links, I just tested them and they work. So, if you go to this site: http://idisk.mac.com/joelpace-Public

Then double click on the folder entitled "Levatino Pace Website" (actually you do have to double click on the little blue folder), it will open and show the following:

Contest Brief (this is the detailed design brief)
Graphics ( I have loaded several Illustrator vector graphics of our logo and symbol for your use)
Photos ( I have provided a number of photos to use)
Site Map ( this map has the site layout)
Sites we like (I have taken screen shots of two sites that I liked and offered them to you as an example)

Double click on any folder and then click the down arrow to download the files.

    I'll provide more shortly.

    Joel.

As far as what the site will talk about - here are my thoughts. Steven and I are both around 40 and lawyers. We started our firm to make a difference to both our clients and our families. We want to be different. We don't want to be like everyone else. We want to be unique. We also want to have a positive impact on our community and help others - both paying clients and those who can't pay.

The site - especially the home page and the Attorney bio's for both Steven and I need to project this desire, the passionate vibrancy we feel. That is why I like the white space so much along with strategic use of vibrant colors. Too much of anything can overwhelm, but the right splash of color or a wonderfully edited photo that captures an emotion can project it.

We have a short description of the firm at www.levatinopace.com that has some information. This description is not what we want to use now. I suggest that you use that and break it up how you see fit or just use placeholder text. Right now, we are searching for the design. The content will come later.

Another comment - I do want everyone to know that we are very involved in this process. If you want a lot of comments and feedback, this is the contest to be involved in. I will respond in detail to each submission as quickly as possible. I think this makes for the best results.

Okay - just in case someone doesn't get my sense of humor, I need to clarify. As to my old law firm's website, I do not intend on stealing any content. I did write it all, but the new site will have new content. Rather, I simply point you to that site to have an idea of the type of content that will be on our new site.

    Thanks,

    Nadia -

Please see the two entries we've posted for feedback on your entry. You are still in the running, but we'd like you to address some of the things we've mentioned. Thanks.

Okay - just a short note to everyone. First, thanks for all of the work and the entries. All of them are wonderful. We are having a hard time picking a winner as each submission has something we like. I hope that some of the others who indicated they would enter do and that everyone looks at the feed back we have given.

We like the color palette of #17 - if you submit something new, I would be guided by that.

Also, We want to try and reduce the amount of stuff on the home page ....its evolved nicely from the start to where we are now. Entries #17 and #16 are both very good.

    Thanks everyone!

Okay - we eliminated some older submissions. They were all great. We just want to give an indication of what we like and where to focus any future revisions/submissions.
