hi, thanks for the feedback! i'm happy that my entry is appreciated. Effectively to the beginning i have tried to follow the mockup but then the instinct has prevailed too much :-|

It's not particularly what I was looking for - but I really like it. I've ruled out other designs with a black background or a narrow horizontal menu, but this is very well executed and works well. I have no suggestions for improvement and it is one of the designs I will consider for a winner.
