- Brief Summary
-
We are looking for a single-page design for the home page of a new website for a composite window company. The design will be used as a template for the rest of the site. The client is a young but expanding company who work on large prestigious projects and are looking for a web site which will add status to the company.

The Client:
Spectrum Installations — a UK company who supply and install composite windows. (composite windows are aluminium on the outside and wood in the inside). They are a fairly new company, but expanding rapidly. 90% of their business is commercial, mostly large-scale, high-profile developments (apartments, offices, colleges etc). The remainder is private houses.Description
The site is a corporate site designed to show off the companies skills and past projects to new and existing clients. Although the client is still a small company, the website is intended to give the company some “status” by having an impressive looking website.
I’ve produced a mock-up here of the kind of thing I’m looking for and you may want to base your design on this layout. This is a suggested layout, not a design, and the color scheme used is not a requirement. I produced a temporary holding page here, which the client likes very much, so you may like to incorporate these ideas into your design. I particularly like the overlaid fade from the logo to the title.
However, I’m open to all ideas, you don’t have to use the mock-up at all, and you are welcome to be as creative as you wish.
Ideally I’d like something of a ‘wow’ factor in the design. I’m not particularly looking for web 2.0 style, but I do like the shiny/reflective graphics of 2.0 as seen in this contest entry
Resources: Images you can use can be found here. There are not many of them — the client was unable to get any more before the deadline. Unfortunately, the logo is bitmapped with a white background and the client was unable to get hold of the original vector file.
The text and links to use can be found on the mock-up. The links/buttons for Commercial and Private above the main text must appear prominently. In the future we may add one or two extra links in the main navigation, so please allow for this in your design.
