I'm in need of a modern yet soft logo for my photography business to be used on business cards, new web site (links provided in the brief), in e-mail signatures, etc.

  1. Just an FYI. Although I have been using the jmw-photo.com it doesn't have to be incorporated. I do own those other domains and when I launch the new site, it will be posted with jmichaelwallacephotography.com with the others pointed to it at this point. If someone comes up with a better solution...I'm open to change :-)

  2. I've looked at a couple more examples. I'm really open to ideas. The name subordinate to a graphic is fine too. Make sure you have checked out my wedding portfolio site to understand the type of wedding photography I do, AND especially what the new site will look like. I really has to fit with sites style. Feel free to ask me questions if there are any points of clarification. By the way, looking around this site, all or your creativity make me envious!!

  4. ...another update as I've seen them roll in. I'm really not liking the combination of mixed caps and lower case. I think I have to stick with my original (albiet sad) concept of **all lower case letters**

  12. From hmcquigg - Is it the simplicity that you liked? Or that it is in black and white?

    I would have to say I liked it because it was unique and simple. It would definately stand out in a pile of photog cards. I've never been a big fan of the "comp card" type busines card. I'm not saying it suits me, just liked it.

  14. Just noticed something...a lot of use of orange/yellows. Not saying theres anything wrong with that. If you viewed the sample web site, make sure you take some time notice that the site gives the ability to color shift per page. Note how the logo on the sample site color shifts too...so don't get stuck on just using orange-ish colors. WOW..this is fun, exciting...and hard!!

  15. #31 has really got my tingly. It is really working for me. It has a real organic feel to it. Modern and masculine, yet gentle. Very creative but yet a sense of control. I can see envision the "jmw" and "photography" being the color shifting parts that match the transitions that the web site allows.

    #40 and it's compliment #46 are a close second. I really like the way you have set up the "j. michael wallace" and "photograpy". You have managed to set up a very good visual flow where the text isn't lost even though the logo-ish part (JMWP)is very large.

  17. Ok...let me see if I can start to sum things up a little and refine based on all the great design work.

    - REALLY like the font type used for "j. micheal wallace"in #40, #46, #70, & #19
    - I just don't think that the 4 letters "j m w p" all smooshed next to eachother is working. I really has a subliminal look of JUMP. Although #65, #40, & #46 have come probably pulled it off the best.
    - #31 seems to have pulled off the most appealing "jmw"
    - #28 is appealing because of it's simplicity. (just needs a bit of tweeking)
    - #28 & #31 I can visualize working very well with the color shifting per page option of the website sample I listed in the briefing.
    - #44 is appealing also, but I can't put my finger on what it is thats not quite "there"
    - #55 I really like because of it's uniqueness and Art Deco feel. NOTE that I am saying Art Deco "feel". I don't want strickly Art Deco.

    OK...hope that helps a little.

  19. Wow, great work everyone! This has been a great contest. Look like a few of the CH's noted best designers kinda got hit with the runaround though LOL. Thats alot of great submissions for nothing, after reading the feedback.

    #107, #109, #120, #121, #122, #123, #136 - atrox, you did a really nice job and THANK YOU for taking the time to submit so many versions or color. However, as my colleagues have been helping me through this process, they noted how very close your design is to sabu (#102)and feel that is should be elminted. I will keep you in mind though if something falls through for some reason.

  26. Aah that's a real shame. The only thing i see that is similar is a shape behind the initials 'jmw', but mine is square, the initials are cornered and not all the same color etc. But it's your decision. It was nice working with you. I hope you have much joy with the logo of your choice.
