Number 1 Love the font. Elegant but restrained. And this design This is pretty much what I'm looking for. Maybe a change in the colour of the the squares. BTW it's ReNaiSSance not ReNNaisSance but i understand you getting the spelling wrong it's an easy word to mispell.
Cheers Don
Palmeteer, the fonts too complex, and I don't really like the icon either
sorry, i copied it from the "wants" section of the brief. I will revise it. I should have checked. thanks for the speedy feedback and I will revise it. as for the squares, i was trying to hit on various types of stone that you might revitalize. I will try some different colors for that as well. thanks!
Submitted design #4
my revision, i hope you like it. thanks!
palmeteer,
visually I prefer your new colours in number 4 but you make a good point about the colours of the stones. I also like it that you made the diamonds a bit smaller. I'll have a little think about the colours and I'll get back to you. BTW my apologies for misleading you on how to spell the name. It's the major drawback with the name.
Cheers Don

glad you like it. please let me know if you would like to see additional changes!
Submitted design #8
just a slight revision, with a more distinctive flair
Hi palmateer,
Thanks for your work. No need to experiment with the type of 1 and 4 it's perfect. Love the R.
As for the icon, I like the size, and colours of number four, if nothing better comes along I'd pick four as the winner.
One thing that might improve it intellectually, although I don't know about aesthetically, is a gradient fill
So I was wondering if you could try a single colour gradient fill starting from a solid colour at the bottom, of the icon transitioning to white. I'd like the speckles in the transition to be pretty big.
Yeah, I know I said I wanted simplicity... but I just thought of the idea and it gives alot more intellectual depth to the logo
As it alludes to the fact that Renaissance changes a stones appearance, a snow capped mountain, rebirth.
Cheers Don
PLEASE DISREGARD THE GRADIENT IDEA...
Maybe just experiment with a magenta colour, instead of blue, for the number 4 icon colour and make it, the icon, a bit smaller.
The reason I ask for size reduction is I'm worried about how it will fit in a business card. BTW I'm willing to pay the winner, of the contest, a hundred bucks for a business card and letterhead design. Hope your interested cause the odds are really high that you are going to win.
Another thing is presuming you do win, how am I going to pay you? I can't use paypal, they're a pain in the ass, for us foriegners. Is there some sort of credit card system the 99 design site uses or will I have to use western union, i can do that, if I have to.
Cheers Don
sounds good and i definitely would be interested in the business card and letterhead design. let me look into the credit card method. i have an upgraded paypal account that accepts credit card accounts, so that should work. i'll get back to you on it.
i'll get on those revisions for you as well. thanks again!

always thought green was sorta classy too
Palmateer, you're a real pro, pleasure to deal with. Even if you don't win, eiji has come up with a briliant concept but he's a long way from pulling it off design wise, I'm going to
give you some money as you have put alot of work into your design, communicating with me.
Also thanks very much for the variations, I'd just like you to make a couple of final minor alterations.
I like the size of entries 17 and 18, will be easier to use on advertising material etc, but could you change the colours to the same as 4.
One other thing could you change the tagline to "stone and tile restoration" it's presently "tile and stone restoration" My mistake sorry...
Once again thanks for your work I really appreciate it.

it's been a lot of fun working on this project and a pleasure working with you as well. i am glad you like the designs. here is the revision per your request.
Excellent
Submitted design #44
something I have been playing around with. took my original design and worked with it to have it reflect your revised brief. experimenting with some other typefaces as well.
Hi Palmateer,
Looks alright. However, it would be great if you could find a font similar to the one in entry 21, but without the tail, and that colours of the font, and squares, be the same as in entry 21.

based upon your feedback
Submitted design #48
something completely different
Hi Palmateer,
Number 46 is looking good, really good. The fonts good, is it a single font or did you pinch the "R" from another font.
Could you try making the highest diamond the same colour as the font. Also can you try making the line a bit smaller and the same colour as the colour as the font.
Cheers Don
Hi palmateer,
Number 47 is way too busy
Cheers Don
Hi Palmateer,
Regarding the font of number 47. Did you adjust the kerning on your other entries? Because on this one, number 47, the gaps between the letters don't seem to be harmonious. For example the gap between the "N" and the "C" seems smaller than it was before
Cheers Don
You are correct. The kerning was off. The font is in fact a single font. I had initially altered the R in my first few submissions. What you are seeing here is the R as it appears in it's native form.

tiles in various states of repair, with the finished, repaired tile on top, drawing your focus.
Hi Palmateer,
56 looks great, the winner at this stage, about the only thing I'm worried about is the legiblility of the the tagline, because the colours so light will people be able to read it, especailly when it's shrunk down to business card size. Another thing can you make the kerning a little smaller, on the tagline, it's a bit too wide for my liking. IMHO when the kerning is too wide it makes a design look contrived.
Also can I see what the design will look like like in one colour.
As for your, "cracked entry" it's along way off from what I visualised. Probably best to position the diamond as you have in your other entries with the cracks radiating upwards from the bottom two diamonds. However, I wouldn't worry about working on it as I doubt anyone else is going to beat number 49.
Cheers Don
i'll make the revisions. glad you like it.

revisions and in 1 color
Palmateer.
It's great. However I am still really worried about the point size of the tagline. At the smaller sizes I can't even read it. Do you think it will easily read, on a business card, without having to blow "RENAISSANCE' up so big that it overwhelms the card.
Cheers Don
Submitted design #64
this should work
Hi palmateer.
Congrats, you are the winner. So how are we going to go about designing the card and letterhead. You could do it via 99designs if you want. Also have you worked out how I'm paying you?
Cheers Don
