   Eiji if I was starting a totally web based business I'd welcome a "Web 2.0" style logo. I just wanted to make it clear that I didn't want that style so designers wouldn't waste their time.
   I also sense, from your tone, that your main problem is the low prize I have offered. Fair enough.
   There are a number of reasons for that.

   A) I have stuff all money, I have a family and for the last five months I've been living off my savings.
   B)I don't even know if my business will last, if there will be sufficient demand for my work.
   C)No-one has has to enter a design, and in saying that if I had any design flair, was good on a graphics program, I'd have a go at these sort of contests myself, even if the price was only a hundred bucks, especailly if I was student, wanted to build up a portfolio.
   D) If you do a bit of mathes, on many occasions it actually make more sense for a designer to enter a lower paying contest. Mainly because they generally attract a lot less entries and the standard of designers is generally lower. Meaning average designers have a much better chance of winning. For example, if I was an average designer, It would make more sense for me to enter a $100 contest with 15 competing designs than a $200 contest with 40 competing designs.

   D)I'm not expecting brilliance, for example how many contests have you seen where the first entry was said to be almost what the contest holder wants? Because I'm not expecting brilliance, and have a good idea of what I want, there are plenty of places, on the web, I could have got a a perfectly acceptable logo for fifty dollars(or even less)
   E) The winner will definitely get paid

   Hi everyone,

   Thanks for the entries. At this stage palmateer's entry number 4 is the leader by a long way, great font, nice colours. If anyone else is entering a design, about the only was I can see you beating him, is to try using a gradient fill somewhere. Yeah I know I said I wanted simplicity. But the idea behind it is that the gradient suggests change, whch is what we do to stone, turn ugly into beautiful.
   BTW I don't know what the protocol is but I'd also like the winner, of the contest, to design a business card and letterhead for me. I'd pay a hundred bucks.

   Hi Donzac, i know that gradient fill can produce a nice looking, but a little tip for you.. gradient fill is depend on the print media. different type medium can produce different results.. and if you tend to do a silkscreen process a lot, i suggest don't use a gradient for logo. Especially with embroidered tshirt, it can't produce gradient colour. my 2 cents.. :)

    Hi Everyone,

    Regarding the business card and stationary design. The money for designing it will still be a hundred bucks but it will not necessarily be the winner, who will design it, however it still will be a person who has submitted a design to the contest.
    The main reason for this change is that I want to have the right to reward somone who has submitted some great designs and hasn't been rewarded for his efforts. Hopefully, this change won't get anyone too angry...

    Hi Everyone,

    I think the three diamond/squares idea has been taken has far as it can go. There's already a couple of great logos using that theme but they are beatable. So heres an idea someone can work on if you want.. Create a mountain range and have a sun appearing.

    HI everyone,

    Thanks for all the entries, Here's another couple of ideas you could work on,
    Firstly using the three diamonds concept, The two bottom diamonds, of the "triangle" are cracked, broken in some way and the top diamond is solid. This would probably work best if the diamonds were all the same colour.
    The second idea is a lone diamond could be rising up from a mound of broken tiles.
    BTW really appreciate what everyone has done and know I am going to end up with a really good logo.
    Only problem is the logo will be too good to put on my current vehicle:) My set of wheels is a 12 year old four wheel drive SUV. It's been down the beach a lot, I love fishing, and the saltwater is starting to cause rust. At this stage you can only see the rust if you look really closely, hopefully it will stay like that until I can get me a "new" work van.

    Hi everyone.

    The contest is over...
    I've decided Palmetteer is the winner and Gandecruz is second(he gets fifty bucks) Eiji, gets a highly recommended, for the best concept, unfortuanately he never refined his design enough.
    The business card, and letterhead, will be done by palmeteer as he has done the most work in this contest. The reson I have yet to push the winners button is I'm just giving palmateer a chance to make one final alteration before I do that.
