Brief Summary

The goal is modern, corporate and professional logo with an inspection company related icon. Attention to detail and reading of scope is especially important as excellent direction has been given.

We are an agency, and thus we don't have time to provide feedback to those contestants who are beginners and whose designs that have no chance to get to the level we are looking for.

    Or do you need two logo's for this? looks to me if you mixed up two of your clients?

    Is it illegal to auto trace someone else's photo...Because that is what people are doing. It doesn't seem right.

    commercial buildings, who have just opened escrow.

    Reading the specs here the host has made his confusing to say the least.

    Hopefully the host will clarify this issue for us all.

    I will be posting a design on this one for sure. Just think that someone has a design way to close to http://www.binocularscanada.com/
    logo for comfort and another ripping a copyrighted image from here http://www.jamd.com/image/g/3332519?partner=Google&epmid=1 and altering it.

    SilverleafArtist, I asked before if anyone knew if that was against rules or illegal. Do you know if it is? It seems like cheating to me because Autotrace in Illustrator is a click of the mouse. If people wanted that as their logo they could brainlessly do it themselves!

    Also, it is not an original image. Why would someone pay for that?

    You can go to google and type in "binoculars" or "man with binoculars" and get half of these images.

    Thanks, but I'd rather lose with my real design than win with a stolen one!

    Well it is illegal to use a copyrighted image and alter it without written consent from the original owner of the image. Copyright has a life of a total of 95 years. From what I see and have not had the chance to upgrade from Illustrator 10 to CS is that for what I seen of Auto-tracing is not that all good at all. Adobe has disclaimers about the use of their software. Auto-tracing of a copyrighted image is still an alteration and can be subjected to the laws governing copyright. When you violate that you risk the harsh punishment of up to $150,000
    in fine and jail. Not my cup of tea and not worth the trouble when all the prize money you make won't even cover the legal mess let alone the fine if caught. There are to many grey areas in copyright and fair use. Good idea is to find out if the image is copyrighted before using it in your logo design.

    Thanks for clearing that up! I've used it to see how it works and it does trace pretty well if you use the right settings. What I learned in college is to use your own pictures, vectors, and do everything from scratch. Then I came on this website and you can tell that a lot of images are auto-traced. There is just a certain look to it. I don't think it's right seeing there are so many people working hard to produce an original, and to get won over by an auto-tracer. But again, thanks. I've tried to research on-line and there IS a lot of grey area.

    Referring to SMS and Silverleaf's concerns- they are extremely valid.

    You CANNOT use Microsoft clip-art, Google Images, or ANY copyrighted property. You must use your own work!! The award will go to the most original, creative piece.

    SMS and Silverleaf- Thank you for bringing this issue up, and I hope it does not discourage you from participating. I would love to see your work!

    Someone asked me if I used clip art in my design or auto tracing, that made me sick. First off I have and only use Illustrator 10
    and anyone knows that knows there is no auto tracing in it as for clip art this is my work period. I do and have been doing illustrations
    for several years and have sold plenty of my work. my work is my own creation period.

    As for what Bob said looks like the host is skipping us cause he is afraid of asking for authenticity of the work submitted. Looks
    like a waist of time to do any further designs on this as the host has no intention of giving feedback to everyone on here.

    Sorry when you spend a good amount of time creating a logo and not getting any feedback that feels like a slap in the face
    for even doing work as is this is free work till it is paid so th least a host can do is follow the rules and give some back

    We have a winner!!! Design #34 by UHLATS.

    Client was extremely pleased with the icon you created. He thought it was clever how you incorporated the HCI in the graphic. It looks extremely professional, clean, & classy.

    With all of the great designs It was a really difficult decision for the client.
