for the contest Slangbook logo design
Submitted design #7
my first entry.
Submitted design #21
so it's pretty self explanatory. the speech bubble is a reference to slang, and the book is obvious. the break in the word is a reference to how slang transforms one word into an entirely new concept.
Submitted design #32
i revised my first entry so that the sigle S mark is made up out of an S and a B
Regarding design #32
Great design! We really like it. Truthfully though we prefer the first version. We are also not crazy about the muted orange and green. I'm wondering whether you might be able to liven up the colours a bit...
Regarding design #32
not a problem. anything in particular? i will provide a few color combos. thanks!
Submitted design #33
some different colors for you to consider. thanks!
Submitted design #34
some more color combos
Regarding design #33
Thanks for the updated colors. One question, your font has a real similarity to the font available on facebook. Is this a patented font or a free for use font?
Regarding design #33
it's myriad, the default font in Adobe Illustator. it's not patented by facebook. don't worry about a thing.
Submitted design #39
the S mark stays the same. i reworked this so that the g and b are actually the same shape, just rotated 180 degrees.
Submitted design #43
in case you were worried about the font, i reworked it
Submitted design #44
in case you were worried about the font, i reworked it in a different font

I like the red bubble, really makes the logo stand out. Maybe try a few colour combos with a red bubble. Also, maybe you can incorporate an #$@& type fake swearword in the whitespace of the single big "S"...just some ideas that may work...
Regarding design #39
This is very cool. See my comment on the red bubble clouring...Maybe use this design with the red bubble...
Submitted design #53
various color combinations with the red bubble. i also did the #&%! in the bubble with the S. I am working on one more that I will submit soon. you might consider the constant changing of the colors within the bubble, or even the color of the bubble itself, as slang is always changing and evolving itself. just a thought. thanks!
Submitted design #54
here they are just in black.
Submitted design #55
this color scheme is complementary of each other, distinguishable and unique while being colorful at the same time.
Regarding design #55
I like this one a lot! This is very close to what we're looking for. Maybe you can make the aqua "pop" a little more...
Regarding design #55
sounds good. i'll get right back to ya
Submitted design #56
this has a more vibrant aqua. thanks for the feedback!
Regarding design #56
We really like this one. Give us a few different fonts, just to see the differences...
Submitted design #61
this is using the font Courier (found on most computers). it is reminiscent of a typewriter font, which lends itself well to the book concept.
Submitted design #62
this is set in a font called Rockwell. Rockwell is a classic font, that lends itself well to your logo and definitely differentiates itself from many other logos with it's thick, slab serifs.
Submitted design #63
this is a more recent font; Qlassik. It is a bit of a hybrid between a sans serif and a hand written font which i think is nice since "slang" tends to be viewed as everyday language and we use our own handwriting everyday.
Regarding design #62
I think this one is the best yet. I do like the original font best, but I'm worried that it's exactly the same as the one used on Facebook and that might ultimately cause issues...Barring any late surprises this looks like it's way ahead...Just for comparisons sake throw up a few more fonts to see if anything looks better. Great job!
Regarding design #62
thanks. i will do a few more fonts for ya. just so you know, it's not the same font as Facebook. i accidently cam across that font (or an extremely similar one) when I tried Eurostyle, so if you really like the first option, i doubt there will be any problem. in any event, I will get a few more options up here for ya. thanks!
Submitted design #70
okay so i reworked the original design. i customized the typeface so that is is not even close to resembling facebook, but also still retains a lot of the qualities of the original design, which you say you liked best. i will still throw a few more font options up here for you though. thanks!
Regarding design #70
This looks awesome!
Submitted design #75
at various sizes. please keep in mind that these are all 100% vector and can therefore be scaled exponentially without any loss in quality. thanks!
Submitted design #76
at varying sizes, without the serif on the S. enjoy!
Regarding design #76
We have a winner! Awesome Job!
