Some great looking work! Just wanted to throw a few comments out there for everybody taking part in this contest:

-Please avoid the use of shading, gradients and shadows. I am not a designer so I do not know if that is the exact terminology but we want to keep the text very plain and easy to read. Outlining is fine.

-Please try to stay away from stars, silhouettes of women, and lips. A lot of these things are used by our competitors and we want to avoid looking like them.

-Please keep to easy to read fonts for the text. The flowing, curvy scripts are nice to look at but a customer will not be able to read it if they give it just a cursory glance. We want to keep this logo as clean, not busy and web 2.0 looking as we possible can.

-After looking at some of the colors used it seems that the pinks used do not have to be SO bright. Nice soft pinks seem to work better and don't scream as much =P Also I was thinking a nice accent color that could go along with the pink can be a nice gray with the same tone. Just another thing that may make it easier to mix it up a bit and keep the logo from looking bland. We definitely need more than one color in the overall logo.

-I have been trying to think of something that could be added to the logo to give it a bit more life. Here is one thought that I had. A sexy cartoon angel, with foxy eyes and a whip or maybe a devils tail. She could be leaning against the "F" in front of the text or maybe laying across the top of the letters.... Not really sure if something like that would work but I will leave that part to you guys.

Thanks again to everyone taking part and if you have any questions or feel I did not explain something well enough to not hesitate to let me know!

A few more thought. I was checking out an article referenced a lot in contests around this site:

    http://www.fontshop.com/fontfeed/archives/the-logos-of-web-20/

I am not sure if it help but the look I am after would most likely fall under softies with the so called "soft, rounded typefaces". I also found a link to an article on web 2.0 colors:

    http://www.milesburke.com.au/blog/2006/02/03/the-web-20-secret-weapon/

    http://www.milesburke.com.au/blog/wp-content/files/web20palette.jpg (jpeg of the colors)

I would love to see somone do a softy with our name using the thinkfree pink and one of the grays that fits well with it (thinkfree, slashdot, wired or wikipedia gray). Some nice large rounded text with nice coloring and some colorful angel/devil references might just do the trick. One other logo i noticed was that of a site called campfire:

    http://www.campfirenow.com/

I just loved how they used such soft simplistic colors to make the icon of the campfire. very nice looking logo.

Also, I wanted to once again thank everyone for all of the hard work they are putting into this contest! Great job everyone!

Same, I hate when contest holders change their plans for a logo when it's up and running a few days. Drives me batty.

To be fair the first post I made which had most of the changes was made the day after the contest was started.

In any case this is part of the creative process. I did not have a very good idea what I was looking for when the contest was started but as it progressed I have tried to make clear what types of designs I favored and which I did not. As an example at first I was open to having hearts in the designs but now as I see them more and more I have decided that they are just not unique enough and some of the designs that do not have hearts I am favoring. I am saying this now because this is a realization I just had. If there were no designs submitted that did not make use of a heart that I liked then this comment would never be made.

I would think that making these changes would benefit those entering the contests so that they could be read and time would not be wasted creating designs that were not what I am looking for. I also put a note in the main description for the contest so that designers would know that as the contest progressed I would be leaving general comments with the types of designs I am liking and the ones I am not. I have felt like I have been leaving feedback and comments in a timely fashion but if I am not doing so please let me know what I can do to correct the problem.

I apologize to anyone that feels that I have not been clear enough with the types of designs that I am looking for as the contest progresses.

i don't think that you are taking wrong ways.
modifications and new design lines are part of the creative process; ideas can be modified and there is where the designer adaptability and creativity comes into the game.

in my short experience in design contest, this is by far the best hosted: regular feedback, clear concepts, you know what you want, and you do research!
it's great taking part of this.

so, keep like this that your going great ;)

I just wanted to mention that due to the overwhelming response we have been getting and the fact that we like to many of the logos, due to consistent revisions by many of the designers, we are going to be giving out consolation prizes to some additional designers after the contest is over, if they choose to accept them.

You guys have really done a terrific job and it would be a shame to see so much hard work go unrewarded. We will be announcing the winners of consolations prizes along with the main winner right here so everyone can see.

Thanks again to all of the designers who have participated in this contest!

You can use online tools and anything else you want to make a better logo. At the end of the day these are just tools that you are using to help express the creative you are going for.

On a side note I cleaned up the logos that are still in the running quite bit today as the contest is winding down. Good luck to all of the contestants that are in the running!!
