The Second Time Arounders is an adult marching band in St. Petersburg, Florida. We will perform in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade this year and need an improved design before our television appearances. The winning design will feature an ad for you or your firm.

I am the developer of the Second Time Arounders site at http://secondtimearounders.org . The CSS is functional but unattractive. I know my limitations as a designer and invite you to help us make an attractive homepage that features our story (who we are, our history), pictures of the band, and an area for advertisement.
The homepage of the current site focuses on calendaring and links for members. I would like the redesign to be more promotional in nature. The homepage should feature, at minimum...
- Our existing logo (http://secondtimearounders.org/images/logo.png)
- An area for a brief "about us" or "who we are" where we can begin telling our history.
- An area for an image slideshow. I will implement it later in jQuery.
- An area for "latest news" where we can update the public on where we will be performing, etc...- Menu with items Home, History, Contact, and Members. Either vertical or horizontal is fine.
- A login box for members. After logging in, the members will be redirected to a page like the current site's homepage. You don't need to design this page or anything but the homepage.
- An area for ads. We currently have an Amazon search box and will be adding promotional items like hats, mugs, etc... This is an important source of revenue.
- An advertisement for you or your firm. Since our budget is not huge for this redesign, I want to make it worth your while. We have 500+ local members, many of whom are business owners. Also, we will be seen live by over 3 million people on Thanksgiving, and by 60 million TV viewers. We will also likely be featured on national TV shows before the parade. Long story short, you will receive a lot of promotion for your services.
Thoughts on the design:
- The color scheme will be important and I leave this mostly in your hands. It should incorporate some dark blue since that's our primary band color.
- It should be fun. The band is all about the joy of making music at any age, plus we're very excited to be in the Macy's parade.
- You can also visit our old site at secondtimearounders.com for some "about us" text and images for mockup.
