love the direction, but like I said to wolv, the lowercase combination of "nr" where the "r" closely follows the "n", too closely resembles a logo I'm about to use on another Nathan Rice site.
Also, you didn't include the .net
However, like I said, I love the direction. I'd like to maybe see what you could come up with, per the mark, if you used capitals. you definitely have the right idea as far as brandability goes.
Also, maybe try a shorter (in height) type in the text of the logo. something that looks very techy (this is a web design blog) and edgy.

very nice. not sure if it's exactly what I'm looking for, but it definitely fits the description. it's a good logo. my only reservation is that it closely resembles the university of miami logo:
