Brief Summary

I showed the logos to the partners and they felt they were a little too childish for the 12-13 age group. I'll talk to them tomorrow about it and give you guys more feedback.

Yeah i do understand what you are saying but it really depends on the brand. For this brand it needs to illustrate the fact thats its for young boys/schoolboys. The brand is in fact only for school boy trousers so a fun logo with some form of symbol representing school/young boys was what the partner were looking for. We currently have a very old logo of the word BOYO and a drawing of a boy kicking a football. They really just wanted to modernise it and not reduce it to just a font. I agree with you though that some logos only need a really nice font to look professional.

    perlico, just a note:
I understand why you want the logo to express the core business but based in my professional experience, I think it could seriously compromise creativity and like you said in the briefing, look childish. Levis, Gant, DKNY, Benetton, Zara, H&M, etc... those are worldly well known brands and they all work with text based logos. Its not a soccer ball or anything similar (in terms of concept) that makes your brand fit in the branch, its how you communicate. I'm talking about the brand's guidelines, the print work, the chosen font, the type of photography, the tagline, etc. Does this make sense?

    Best,
    João
