Brief Summary

Referral program: Refer an artist friend to the contest and if he wins you get US$1,250 referral fee. When your friend joins ask him to post your reference in the contest's message thread. For those who work the referral angle I suggest putting the contest on Digg or some other massive social media sites with your name and direction how to join in. When contest is done even if your name isn't mentioned I will ask the winner where he learned about the contest and in the unique case a name wasn't mentioned, if I see fit, will also reward referral fee.

Hi there,

My name is Sahar Sarid, owner of the blog Conceptualist.com.
About the blog: it is about my ideas, my businesses, my life, my friends. It is mainly geared towards the domain space for now but that may change later as things evolve.
About me: http://www.dnjournal.com/cover/2007/may.htm
My life project: http://www.conceptualist.com/?p=301

Some words to describe myself: Conceptual thinker, love questioning (hence my life project), love learning, curious, positive, optimist.
Before designing please go over the blog for at least 30 minutes.

I would like you to get the essense of the blog, what I'm trying to do, and who I am (which is a big part of the blog). More importantly, I would like you to try to capture the essence of a conceptualist. Who is the conceptualist? What does he do? How does he do it?

When designing please pay attention to the blog's colors/look/feel. Logo should blend well with current look.
Designing the logo: Please make sure it is not limited to the domain space although you can integrate some elements such as "dots" (it isn't a requirement) or other related creative ideas.
Each logo must include a description how you came up with it, what went through your mind when designing it. I want a story to go with it, I want to understand the small elements that makes it powerful, I want attention to details.
Some points worth mentioning:
1. Do not break the word "Conceptualist". It is one word, not "Concept" and "ualist"
2. Include ".com" in logo.
3. Avoid "thinking clouds", light bulbs, adding your own text, and try to avoid single graphic image on left of text. To understand more view few logos which were removed from consideration.

4. Avoid copying other major brands. Work MUST BE ORIGINAL

5. The banner on top of my blog changes daily. Do not design your logo based on the daily banner. To see banner history click the tab that says "banner history" on top of blog.

6. This contest is for ten days. Subscribing to my RSS feed will give you a closer look at how I do things. Not a must by any means but if you are a perfectionist you may want to consider this. Besides, you may find the topics interesting.

7. Do not submit revisions of your work before initial feedback. Wait for feedback and if it is positive then perfecting your logo would make sense.

8. This contest is about quality, not quantity.

9. To understand deeper, read other top entries (both that are still in consideration and those that were removed) that are rated 3-5 stars.

Important:

I'm a big fan of elements and fundamentals. The more deep you go into "who is the conceptualist" is the better. If you choose to participate I would like you to really put the effort into creating someting that will last forever, not a work you simply get paid for, but your own legacy, something you would be proud of to show to your friends, family, and professional collegues.

bonus: Contest thread and individual comments on artists' works may give you a better insight what to look for.

Referral program: Refer an artist friend to the contest and if he wins you get US$1,250 referral fee. When your friend joins ask him to post here your reference in the contest's message thread.

Thanks for reading, looking forward to working with you.

Sahar
