for the contest $250 for 'Glass Effect' rollover buttons
Submitted design #2
Hi GarethB,
Here's a quick attempt. I haven't had a chance to download the fonts provided, or setup the correct number of links, in the tall and smaller sizes, but I thought I would check and see if I'm heading in the right direction. Please let me know where I can improve. Thanks a lot.

Almost forgot the link. If you have trouble viewing on imageshack, let me know and I'll have it uploaded to my site.

Thanks for the submission.
I hadn't considered the 3d effect (like an ice cube?) element, and it's a nice idea. Perhaps you could explore the front face being more rounded with the rear more square?
Suggestions;
1. Some diagonal reflections cutting across the menu
2. Moving the buttons together
It's would certainly be worth your time adding the correct fonts too.

Thanks for the feedback on my previous entry. I made a handful of changes that you requested, and a few others as well. My initials are overlayed on the image just for some security. Don't worry they are not part of the design. The myserver button is an example of a rollover with the blue becoming slightly more visible. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks again.

Very good. This is original and impressive. Youve developed your 3d (ice cube) idea well.
Note the vertical size which needs to be **within** 500 pixels
Thanks for taking the time to use the fonts too.
No problem with the background lettering ;-)
The rollover is subtle, is it possible to rotate the cube so that the left edge comes slightly out of the screen and the right edge pushed back?
Regarding design #8
I think it would be worth trying some larger text too, 'my' looks shorter than 'noc'

Glad you're happy with the design GarethB. I'll try those changes out soon. One quick question though. When you ask to have the left edge of the cube slightly out, and right edge pushed back, do you mean just for the rollover, or do you want all of them rotated in their default state. I'm assuming you mean just for the one rolled over, but this could raise some problems as it would overlap the other links on the side coming out. I'll give it a try though.

.cg. hi, yes a subtly rotated cube for the current rollover - it doesn't need to be that much, perhaps just enough to see it's 3d?

Hi,
I fixed the text, enlarging the 'my' letters, and resized the image to fit 500px in height. I tried two different ideas for the rollovers. One with the cube set back in farther, and the other slightly tilted like you wanted. Personally I prefer the one set back since it's more subtle and wouldn't 'pop' as much when rollovered. Once again, I look forward to your feedback.

This is developing very well, I like both effects keep them both going. I particularly like the rotated cube, although perhaps less of a rotation? I see what you mean about it interfering with the other button can you work on this too?
The myserver text in rotated column needs some work, try to keep it parallel to the rotated button
Suggestions;
When the rollover on myserver, add some 3d to the gap above mybackup to maintain the effect
Try making the reflection slightly more subtle
Develop the text colours, perhaps with a tint of the colours (see brief)

I fixed a couple of the problems. I angled the rollover slightly less, modified the text to fit the angle better, and moved it back to provide some space between the mybackup button below. I also made another version with less reflection (which I prefer) and a few colors as well. What do you think?
Regarding design #18
Nice work, good call about the reflections on the off buttons I agree.
My preference is towards the previous pair of rollovers lets return to these and incorporate the details above.
Keep developing both versions and consider adding some 3d detail to the button below each rollover.
The top of the about button may need similar detail.

Opps - Double post!

Hey GarethB,
I reworked the design and made a few changes to the reflections. I brightened up the rollover and made it more vivid as well. I'm quite happy with how it turned out. Once again, I look forward to your thoughts.

This is a good submission, your 3d work is of a very high standard.
I have no further feedback!
