  1. I have been asked whether Western Union is an option.

    From what I understand, the fees for Western Union are quite high. If the winner insists on being paid through Western Union then we will do so. However we will pay only the first $20 of fees for Western Union. The rest of the cost for Western Union will be come out of the prize money.

    Sorry about this, but I think that the fees are high. And if the reduction in prize money concerns you, then there are other payment options to choose from.

  2. I have been contacted by a designer who is reluctant to submit a design early, because of concerns their design may be copied.

    I am aware that there is some copying of designs here. And I am going to look out for it. Please do not do so, because I will not consider any design that is too close to something that has already been submitted. If you have concerns that another designer has copied some work you have done, please only then contact me by PM.

  3. I am trying to comments on the individual designs.

    Overall though many of the designs seem a bit too similar to what we currently have. I mentioned the possibility of a design with text and a line to indicate that something that minimal is fine. But if you take that approach, the colour, typography and layout are important. The idea is to use these to come up with something more interesting and modern than the current logo.

  5. Thanks everyone for your designs, there is some great work here.

    Some general thoughts.

    Designs involving obvious combinations of C and S have now tended to be removed from consideration. The ones that remain are either more abstract, or in the case of sath otherwise very nice. In general though we found that this approach did not meet our requirements.

    The colours that we have favoured tend to be muted; the more muted colours strike the balance between being professional and modern.

    The images that we have liked the most have been the ones that are the most pared down and abstract. We found that the more elaborate graphics (and ones with C and S combinations) tended to distract from our name.

    Another problem with C and S combinations is that it is always possible that a company may change its name, and it is far easier to modify the logo if it doesn't involve a reference to the old name.

    And clean, clear fonts have been very important.

  6. Thanks everyone for your designs. This has been my first contest, and I am really impressed with the quality of the designs. It was also great to see over the course of the contest the designs becoming more consistently along the lines we were after.

    I am aiming to have a decision made tomorrow, the next day at the latest. I assume that I am them supposed to PM the winner to arrange payment and delivery of the files?

    As mentioned in the description, I am going to be running a competition for the interface design of the website. I had hoped to get that up and running straight away. Though I think now it will be better to get a copy of the winning design, and post a file, so that entrants to the next competition can use the actual logo we have selected. But it will be up probably later this week or early next week.
