Would you be available for additional design after the close of the contest (i.e. designing the A and B or the frames around the photos or something)? If so do you work by the hour? What do you charge?

Another excellent iteration. I've been going back and forth on which color scheme I like. This one appeals to me more than the other, but I worry about getting to many colors involved. At least on the prior, the leaves tied into the "is".
I think I like this one, though.
My other thought was either adding an A and a B on the apple and the orange. It could be "carved" in them. Or just laid over as a "white" letter but then dropped opacity or blended as multiply or screen or whatever the one in Photoshop is that blends the layer with the one under it. So the effect might be that the letters look light red and light orange.
I think the blue on the question mark is the bottom part of the "is" blue when maybe it would be "cleaner" using the color from the top part of the "is". And then setting it behind the fruit (and perhaps enlarging it a bit for readability) so it doesn't dominate as a bright element.
I hope I'm not asking too much here. Of course all changes are always optional for you. I am really pleased with your work. Thank you so much.

Great, cafemocha! You understood what I meant about the lettering style perfectly! I like how you integrated the tag line, though I may add a period after the second part of it as well. Really nice work. I'd had mixed reviews on the q mark where you put it. I've thought about maybe placing it behind the apple and orange though I don't know if it could be read.
I understand what you are saying about not making it too long. I was thinking it could be integrated into the "dot" like Plum Logo. But with the ".net" more compact, I think you may be right.
Great job.

not too sure on adding the question mark at the end. you have a very long url name, and is a .net. anyway, let me know if you are sure about that move.. thanks!

Maybe the tagline should be "Compare anything. Even apples to oranges."
"to", rather than "and"

I like this even more than the previous one. Cool and funky. And good colors. Maybe take this blue into the apple and orange design. Or is that too many colors. Would it be better to use the green from the leaves of the fruit? I like the blue, orange, and red a lot together.

This is good. I like this too... but I really think I like the apple and orange one the best now.

Alright... I've got to say... I've probably been thinking about this logo the most over the past couple of days. I came up with a tag line for the site if I go with this one. "Compare anything. Even apples and oranges." This idea has really grown on me.
For some reason I don't feel that the letters match the fruit stylistically. They seem flat or something by comparison. I also think I might like to see all lowercase. And maybe even a question mark at the end. I think maybe questions grab people's attention. I'm debating, too, about how the grey looks in the center (on "is"). I like it on .net, but I'm not as sure about "is".

Very nice design work here. I like the look of this one a lot. And I want to like the idea... but I am hung up on the fact that when something is "apples to oranges" it means that cannot be compared... where as whichisbetter.net is all about comparing things. I like your style and your aesthetic sense, though.
