Hi all,
Thank you all for your first efforts. I appreciate the work you've done.
A general comment at this point are to pay attention to your color scheme. There are some pretty wild color schemes up there. bennettjw3's first entry and Danad's entry are examples of really saturated, intense color schemes that do not appeal to me. Rogvaiv and to a lesser degree kylenasa_star and zan zan's color schemes are more what I am looking for. That's not to say that you should use these colors specifically, but that these are more appealing.
So far, I think rogvaiv is has achieved best what I am looking for in terms of artistic style... clean, clear, and creative. I'm not sure that I'm going to go with happy/sad necessarily though, so don't go changing all of you designs to emulate his by any means.
Thanks again, everyone. And please keep the creativity coming!

Alright... another good batch and some good improvements.
Remember that all work must be completely original. No borrowing from elsewhere.
Of the new stuff, visually I am liking Letshaveago and cafemocha's work. I also think Philmo is close to hitting the aesthetic that I'm after. That is just the visual look I'm going for many of you have excellent ideas that I think are worth pursuing... but just move them in the direction of those I mentioned as well as rogvaiv's design which really has a nice clean look.
Thank you all for your efforts. More feedback tomorrow.

Oops... jeshinthebox... I removed your comment when I mean to reply to it. Anyway... apologies for not commenting on your entry. I think when I scanned over the page and saw everything had at least one comment I assumed I had hit them all. Nice work.

Ok... so geneneral stuff. Let's have all of the designs on a white background. I know some of you use gradients to "highlight" your design, but it would really help me out if everything from here out could just be on a blank white canvas.
Highlights from this batch for me are Philmo's scale concept and the realistic looking "paper effect" from jeshinthebox. I think otisd made some nice improvements to a good idea. I also like the idea of Plum Logo's design but not the execution. What is the rule on using others' ideas? Is that accepted? Could others of you work on the a "thinking man" design or a "scale" design? Or is it in the designer's code that once someone does an idea that no one else can do it? If not, I'd like to see some more scale stuff, some more thinking man stuff, and possibly some more otisd AB stuff.
Thanks again everyone. And as I mentioned in the original post, it's unlikely that I'll be commenting tomorrow. I should be back at it on Sunday, though.

i think it would be stealing, but since you asked us to do it it might be ok.
i personally wouldnt out of respect to the people who thought of the original idea. they deserve to get all the credit. -

If anyone would like to take a shot at my "AB" concept please feel free to do so. There are so many excellent, creative designers on this site I think it would be an interesting exercise to see what they came up with.

Ok... some general comments.
First of all, I am really impressed with the caliber of work here. Just outstanding. Thank you all for lending your talents to this project.
I also appreciate (most) everyone moving to the white background. That helps as well.
I feel like I owe it to you all to give you an idea of who's at the top of the heap for me right now. This has not been easy, so if I don't mention your design, please do not feel that I didn't like by any means. These are just the one's that are edging the pack at the moment.
Philmo has perfected the scale design... I like it and can't think of anything to improve it. Cafemocha's apple/orange design had a very slow burn effect, but I've been thinking about that one a lot. I really like that design with the tag line "Compare anything. Even apples and oranges." I'd like to see some adjustments to the text, though. I love jeshinthebox's paper look and think it would make for a cool look throughout the site. Plum Logo's thinker is another one I like and would like to see how the changes turn out.
Just007in's #3 is in the running. As is stripe access's latest. I'm curious to see what mainero's changes will look like. I think otisd's last version is good pending no readability issues.
If you are still doing design work, jeshinthebox's color scheme is my favorite I think. So aim in that direction at least.
Because I missed commenting on Saturday and Sunday, and because there are still some changes being made, I might extend the contest a day or two to allow time for that. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up on that possibility.
Thanks again everyone.

Whatever happens you're going to end up with a top quality logo, I think the main reason for this is because you leave top quality feedback and do so regularly.
A lot of contest holders can learn from this, it is in their interest to give us designers feedback.
I've really enjoyed this competition and there are some superb designs here that I really wouldn't mind losing to.

Most of the contest holders just elavorate on what they liked about your designs but you take it a step further by pin pointing details to improve and thats teamwork that's the designer-company/person relationship we all look for. Thank you Beedle. You make our work more enjoyable and less head banging!!

Thank you all for the kind words. :) This has been a lot of fun for me too.
We're coming down to the wire here. I've asked for just a couple of changes... we'll see if I need to extend it or not. I'm trying to avoid that as I'm sure you would all rather have it end today.

So that's it... it's over!
Before I select the winner let me say once more how much I have enjoyed logging in each day to see the wonderful designs you all have come up with. You guys/gals are such a talented bunch. I'd seen other contests, so I was aware of the caliber of designer here on Sitepoint. But even knowing that, you still wowed me.
I also want to say that this was a really tough decision. There were so many of them that I liked. The irony is that the idea for this site came from my constant impromptu surveying of those around me about logo designs that I had done myself or hired out. "Which of these do you like better?" I'd ask. This contest was certainly no exception. I asked family and friends as I always do, but the incredible thing is that there was almost no agreement on which was the best logo. I think that speaks to the high quality and high creativity of so many of the designs here.
So thanks again everyone. And without further adieu...
The winner is.... cafemocha!
