Kept it professional yet light to appeal to both b2b and b2c audiences. Lots of clean, white space to let everything 'breathe'.
Your wireframe called for the search under the top nav, but it felt forced so moved it to wide open space in header - hope that is ok.
Brought in a hint of blue sky in the top background to compliment the grass at the bottom giving an sky-earth nature, outdoor feel.
Plenty of Web 2.0 gradients and reflections to make items stand off the page and bring them to life.
Featured companies area give you a chance to show off with some ajax or flash or keep it simple with hidden divs. Rather than populate this area with common links, went with a graphic approach allowing the visitor to view up to 5 featured companies without leaving the page. You could always drop the graphics and use the company links below the content.
There is plenty of room for more links, promotional items in the footer.
Hope you like. We are ready to roll with the other pages as early as tonight if selected.
