    Regarding design #21

    Hello,
Just so you know, some of the designers in these contests are full-time freelancers and can respond immediately, which, of course, is an advantage to you and them. Some of us have fulltime gigs and work at night. I am a fulltime Senior Art Director for an agency so I can do overnight and weekend turn arounds but week days are tougher.
Anyway, I made some attempts at giving the pieces some human characteristics but that didn't work so well. "Heads" and "hands" ended up in weird places. The one that came the closest to working put heads/connectors on ALL of the pieces. This worked fine with the bottom ones but the top ones made the puzzle look unfinished. I think I'm going to stick with my original concept. I think it is comprehensive and evocotive and holds together very well, and works well in B&W/monochromatic. I still believe the word Partners in your name ably conveys the human aspect and a good tagline would enhance that.
    Thanks again.

    Hi,
    Thanks for the feedback.
There are a couple of other ways to utilize the puzzle pieces. The name itself could be composed of puzzle pieces with the roof placed strategically. Also, within the current design, icons of various steps could be incorporated within the individual puzzle pieces. I entertained both of those briefly but settled on the simpler icon. I will explore the idea of making the pieces look "human" but I am concerned about confusing the concept. I understand you want to "humanize" it a bit but, frankly, in this case, a word is worth a thousand pictures. My icon conveys the process and the word "partners", I feel, strongly covers friendly, human aspect.
From your brief I feel that you have a fairly complex business model and having a logo that conveys the idea simply and graphically may not be completely possible. Some amount of "explanation" will always be necessary until you are well-known. That is one reason I maintained a house shape even though I agree that it can be overdone. I toyed with just puzzle pieces which I feel clearly express the concepts of building and connecting the various components needed to build a house but ultimately decided that, as you further suggested,in the end, the house is the thing.
I would be absolutely thrilled to be picked for your identity, but if not, good luck with your enterprise and thank you for the opportunity to participate.

This great too. Geez. Hard decisions here. Let's see what the team thinks. Expanding on the concept, what about the puzzle pieces looking like a person somehow?

It sounds like you help connect the pieces of a construction project, so puzzle pieces seemed appropriate. the colors are bold but not too bright and the gray while holding the logo together as well as suggesting the house shape doesn't overpower the puzzle pieces which represent the essence of your service.
