- Brief Summary
-
So I need a logo for a wiki (collaborative software) I'm starting targeted at the college and academic community.
- Brand Name
- Description
-
- Tagline
- Will want a tagline version of logo, tagline can be added as attache to main logo once logo is created (i.e., tagline is 2ndary)
- Desired Color Scheme
- Woud like blue to be in there somewher because it's my school color. I also like orange, but feel free to be creative.
- Desired Style
- Academic, Collegestudenty, Web 2.0, Modern,
- Accepted File Formats
- Standard Web Formats (.jpg, .gif or .png); Vector Formats (.eps, .pdf or .ai)
The logo should feature the name of the wiki (which is also the website name):
wikicollegiate
(I'd emphasizing the "collegiate" over the "wiki" -- i.e., if I were writing this web address in an email to a friend I might call it "wikiCollegiate")
The site will be a location for students to be able to collaborate with each other on projects, classwork, notes, major subjects. It will also hopefully be a place for college alumni to also connect.
Feel free to be creative. Looking for something that looks like an academic-styled Wiki - something that conveys the wiki information here is more authoritative than what one might find on wikipedia, because the field of contributors is limited to those who are or have been to university.
If an iPod could design a logo that captured wiki functionality with college/university feel, thats what this logo would be. i.e. Simplicity, style, modern.
Think this site will be the world's most educated repository of information that could one day challenge wikipedia.
In any event, I'm open to your ideas and suggestions. The only thing I ask is that the logo somewhere have blue in it (it's my school color, even though this is a multischool site).
Once the base logo is chosen. I'd want version of the logo featuring the tagline added on, but adding the tagline will be simple. Most important is the logo.
Since receiving submissions, I've been thinking the logo should have some graphical element that would be discernable so regardless of if you read English, you'd know what the brand was or something about the way it is represented that speaks to the product itself. [Think Nike Swoosh]
When you see the wikipedia logo, the globe communicates the the brand before the words do. This isn't to say that I'd have to have a globe or object like that, but there should be something about the logo that makes it unique and easily distinguishable.
