Update to designs. First of all - thank you again for all your submissions. You're making this a very productive design session for us. We've gone through every design that was submitted and have left as much comments and we thought would be reasonable. We really rely upon you, the designer, to assist us in that creative edge and where you have questions, we need you to message that back to us in your comments. We can't read your minds and you can't read ours.

That being said, we've also gone ahead and eliminated a few designers because we felt like they were so off the mark that reaching a design that matched our message just wouldn't be reasonable with the time left in this contest.

One thing that I can't stress enough is that this logo is not for a site about running, dating, construction, gardening, gymnastics, charity, or community service. It is for a site about community news and small businesses promotions - its in the title of this contest.

We're moving in the direction of conversation/news bubbles. Our logo will represent individuals submitting news updates all across the United States, but we have to keep our design as local and as city-focused as possible.

Looking forward to seeing more designs. We've commented on every single designer's submissions that we have received.

We have extended this contest and we're looking for some fresh designs. We want to see some new designs that can show a lot of conversation bubbles and how it relates to news. We would like the image placed to the left our domain name. The logo needs to include the extension of our domain name also (the .org part).

Our site will be a community news site for many different communities where community members are adding relevant news updates to our site. The beat portion of the name is a play on words. It is primarily in reference to a news beat (a subject that we want to see news about).

When designing, think news news news... but think local.

For the designers, in your designs - think about images that make people think about news and images that make people think about a community of people. Make fonts bold. Experiment with uppercase and lowercase lettering. Submit designs with italicized text versions also. Let's get this party started.
