for the contest $500 Debt Management Website Coded Design
Submitted design #1
I tried to give this concept more of a blend of both a professional look, and an eye-catching design, rather than just a plain look. This will help stand the layout out from the ones that you provided, while still maintaining that professional feel.
Please provide any feedback that you may have.
Regarding design #1
I forgot to mention, if you choose my design, I should be able to code it in XHTML, and CSS (using DIV tags, of course).

Thanks Henry for getting the ball rolling on this contest. Definitely going in the right direction. I will pass this on to the client for feedback.

Here is an updated version of my previous entry. A lot of things were touched up to try and give a more creative feel to the design. I had an alternative design for the tabs if they look too glossy. If you'd like to see what the other concept is, just ask.
I'm pretty sure that I'd be able to make the "Submit" button into an actual graphic, when coding the layout, while having it work properly.

Ok sorry for delay in getting back to you. Client loves the header though would like to know if you can do a variation that has a more corporate photo for the companies section of the site.
Therefore, for all sections of the site other than the "Company" section, the existing header would be used. For the company section, the variation with the corporate photo can be used.
Another small change. Can you change the "Call our experts free on 0800 ..." to Call us on 01823 337 471"
Can you include a rollover state for one of the buttons please.
Client not keen on the "inner shadow" effect on the "Your debt solutions start here" box. Also can you replace this image with a corporate one please so on the home page there will be a flavour of families plus corporate.
Can you give the site a background or border - currently the white content area just flows into the background area.
Finally one last thing - can you give the body copy text a bit more breathing space. Looks like it is very close to the edge.
Thanks
Paul

Sure, I can do all of what you asked for, and will submit it when I finish.
However, when you said, "For the company section, the variation with the corporate photo can be used", I was a bit confused. What do you mean by a corporate photo - do you mean just a more business-professional photo?
Submitted design #4
I made the changes that you asked for. The original photo of the family in the header is still in the file, but it's hidden since you wanted to see how a corporate image would look. The "Company" tab is how it would look if a tab was hovered.
I had an idea to split up the actual content into two sections. This seemed to help space out the content, so that, as you put it, it has room to breath. While making the bold, blue words bigger, yet no longer bold, I was able to make the phone numbers bold so that they'd stand out more.
The submit button was changed back to the normal button since the design should seem more professional, and the submit button that I had made didn't really fit with the aspect of the site.

This design is the same as Version 3 (the one that I just submitted), except that I took off the borders of most of the images, and one of the photographs was resized to help fit with the change.
Would your client rather the design have borders, or not? Please let me know when you give your next feedback; thanks.
Regarding design #4
Thanks Henry for making the amends and apologies for the delay in getting back to you.
I will run this past the client and get back to you.
Regarding design #5
Thanks Henry - hmm I think I prefer it with the borders. I will check with the client.
Regarding design #4
It's not a problem. Just let me know what you'd like me to change.

Hi Henry
Any chance you could mock up another page too? The client would like to see 2 pages. If you do, can you use the family picture in the header from your first design on the home page and all other pages apart from companies page. If the second page you are doing is the companies page - please use the corporate image in the header.
Thanks
Paul
Regarding design #5
Sure, no problem. I'll go work on it right now.

I made the relevant changes to the design, incorporating the About Us page. Pictures of happy people with their families were used, but I'll submit an alternative entry without the faded photograph in the content area (incase it's too hard to read the text).
The footer's height was also increased to look a bit better.

This is the same as my other "About Us" entry, except that there isn't a photo faded into the content area. Let me know which one you prefer.
I also forgot to mention that I added a fading horizontal bar under main titles for this page, which I thought was a good idea to help it from looking too dull/full of text.

Ok (and don't worry about your double-post), thanks. I'll eagerly be waiting to hear a response.

Hi Henry
Below is the clients feedback. I would therefore suggest you ensure the header (the bit above the nav bar is no more than 100 pixels high). Lets leave the home page as it is for now and see what he thinks of this new size. So if you could redo the about page with this new smaller header - it would be much appreciated.
Clients feedback as follows:
1. The banner heading is too large (and takes up too much of the page). You could either reduce home page banner and make site consistent throughout, or keep home page banner as is and reduce other page banner headings - its up to you.

Sure thing. It should be posted within the next 10 minutes or so.

This is a smaller header; the blue rectangle above the header image didn't count towards the 100px, so hopefully it'll still be fine. If it needs to be smaller let me know.
Regarding design #17
The client is very keen on this one. His only concern is he is not keen on the text running right across the screen as it is quit a wide area of text and difficult for the eye to find its way back to the start.
Apart from this, I think he has more or less decided this is his favourite design. I am waiting for him to return from a meeting then I will confirm the winner.
Let me know if it will be possible to not have the text run the entire width of the page? Perhaps break it down into 2 columns? (two thirds width on left and one third on right) - I will leave it to see what you think.
Thanks
Paul
Regarding design #17
Sure, that should not be a problem. I'm assuming that you mean like how the main Home page's little content area was?
To help the text stand out, I could also increase its font size.
