I love this guy - this is perfect - well done! Would you be able to do more (not now!) but in the future? I.e. different themes of him for different categories?
It looks good as you've positioned him, but I think he's protruding too far out the top of the blue bar to be practical on the website - I'd end up with too much white space. Perhaps if you could shrink him down a tiny bit so just the top of his hat is protruding?
I'm feeling now that I'd want to keep the lettering similar to I've already got - could you try using Century Gothic (boring font I know) all in lower case?
