Brief Summary

This month, Mashable became the “Social Media Guide.” To celebrate the launch of our new website and branding (but mainly because we thought it’d be fun), we’d like the design community to take our logo and new tagline…and Mash them up!

We are awarding 15 different winners, each for $150!

Update: Don't think "new corporate logo", think how can I create something (within the guidelines) that will fit on a Skateboard or you can see on a t-shirt or something hanging up in a museum ;)

    I just look at these contests as a way to improve my design skills and learn from other designers. So it may seem like a complete waste of time, but it depends on how you look at it. You definitely don't do it for the money :)
    However, I think in this case it should have been stated that it would be up to a random group of peope vto decide who the winner would be, because had I known this was going to be the case, I would not have spent so much time on this one. And I'm pretty sure he would not have gotten near as many entries. So this was kind of misleading. Not good from a "social" standpoint. And speaking of social skills, I wonder if any designer got any feedback, or if were there just stars and eliminations?

    More than anything, this competition made it less attractive for me to join competitions on 99designs. Many of the winners feature design elements that the contest holder directly warned against using (such as grunge). 50% used stock vectors and the rest look like last generation of web 2.0 logos. #1822 and #2692 are the only ones worth mentioning.

    Think about it.
