Check our history - we always award a winner, so that the best (like YOU!) will participate!
Have a look at www.InsightOfTheDay.com, then click over to http://www.spws.net/projects/a/upload/suggestions.jpg - that's a VERY rough idea of what my Client would like on the new home page. The concept is simple: free quotes are sent out daily, and a special offer is promoted twice per month.

You say: "Any source graphics will need to be purchased by you and embedded in the design that is given to us. "
That's not right - it's up to the contest holder (on behalf of the client) to license the use of any imagery used on their website. The designer is not responsible for the licensing of such images because the design is being passed over to the client, who is therefore responsible for the use of any stock imagery used on their site.
EG: I can use the same image in 5 contests (watermarked or whatever) but it is the end user who needs to pay the licensing fee, not the designer.

Nadia P - thank you for the information - I wasn't aware of that, but have changed the details accordingly and will remember it for the future! I'm giving feedback on some of the designs, from my Client, right now - thanks to all of you for participating - I'm always amazed by the talents of the 99d group!! ;o) ~ Scott

Would love for the 99Design staff to come up with a solution for these dead contest, and CH Dropouts... I think if you don't give feedback for a few days there should be some kind of penalty (something to force the CH to give the feedback needed) Either that or all contest prizes should be paid up front...Withdraws are shady...

Is this contest dead? In that case, SPWS, don't expect our entries in your future contests. Goodwill is hard to acheive.

I agree with you AztechDesigns.
You should also not be allowed to give feedback on designs if you are not the contest holder, it's not hard to create a new account and compliment your own designs so they get picked.

Folks - I'm SOOOOOO sorry for the lack of feedback. I've had a *HUGE* challenge getting feedback from my Client, but as promised, we've awarded a winner (as we ALWAYS have, and ALWAYS will!!!!) I value this community dearly, and want for all of you to benefit from this relationship as much as I do.
Toward that end, I have to confess something, and see if any of you have any thoughts on it... if my Client likes two or three designs, and would like to see changes on each of them, then it seems like I'm being unfair by asking all three of you to make changes, when only one of you will get the financial reward. Isn't it a waste of your time? Please let me know your thoughts!
Finally, thanks to all of you who participated - my Client was *overwhelmed*, and is actively looking for other opportunities to draw on your talents and expertise!!
Thanks again,
Scott -

im going to give my persnal opinion on your question.....if your client likes a few designs great you get each to make changes you will most likely get even better designs....i dont think its right to say for exaple client wants that word from this desing that picture from this desing ect.... its ripping somone elses design that they put there time an effort in the way these contest work is if your client likes diff designs from different people you have to give each an opportunity to make changes so they will be judged again equally .....its only fair!!!!! am i making sense?

I am not convinced either. This is not how this platform works. Your feedback less contests doesn't give anyone motivation to participate. Anyway, its your choice to get quality designs or not.

I had this contest marked and wanted to enter, but didnt have a chance to find the time.
In this industry, as many of you probably know, client lead times can cause delays.
Sometimes days, sometimes weeks. And what it comes down to in the end is that
there is always one winner. What the client wants is what the client gets. Some clients Are broad minded, others are very impulsive. Some see a design and dont want to see anything else.
If the client wont give feedback, how can the CH provide any?
The CH mentioned that his client was overwhelmed. I think in all fairness that end result is that the client is happy.
And in this contest, the client chose the design that they were happy with. What i see in here isnt professionalism by some, it seems childish.
congratulation to graphixrule

I disagree TDesigns!! I'm sure we fully understand the CH has "client lag" as we all have experienced this at one point or another, but to not even keep in contact? No reason why the CH can't keep the designers in the loop. If theres no feedback from the client then say so... no feedback in two days, comment in two days saying no feedback!! It's that easy.
No need to kiss butt TDesignZ you didn't win...
I still find 99Designs allows for CH's to use an abuse us at will without being able to voice are opinion in fear of being "outed" from the contest by the CH... WHATEVER!!! Speak your mind Designers as we are the only ones keeping tabs on these CH's! At some point their going have to put a submit rating for the CH's to protect US THE DESIGNERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I VALUE US DO YOU??

Thanks for the congrats TDesigns.
Aztech, I can understand your upsets for sure.. but no need to call Tdesigns a 'butt kisser'.. obviously he didn't win, he wasn't participating.. he's stating his opinion the same as you and no one is calling you names :|
I don't see how bashing each other is going to rectify anything.. do you?
Great work everyone, sorry you're all not happy -

Congrats Grafixrule. About inviting our comments, CH: It would be nice to have posted a note "Still waiting for client feedback". I know we are all busy, but this wouldn't take much time.
I don't think it's right to incorporate other designer's ideas into a final "workup". That is stealing in my opinion. I recently won a contest where the CH liked my design better overall, but also liked some ideas from another designer. He ended up buying both designs. He told me he will be able to use it elsewhere, but how often have you seen that? I never have in 2 years. Now there is integrity.

In addition to what desert says, if a clients likes 2 designs for example, the majority of the award would go to the design that has the 'most of he likes', and you pay another small award to the designer whose elements you want to incorporate into the original design. This of course depends on if the 2nd designer wants to sell his design for less than the award on offer.
Has happened to me more than once, I've been asked to copy someones elements and I said no, not unless the CH offered some sort of payment to the other designer for this ideas.... which they did, all are happy in the end.
As for the name calling here, no need for it. AztechDesigns, there is also no need to post personal information about the contest holder on the open forum... if you had that information, you either use it yourself, but don't expect others to do it on your behalf.
@ Scott, for future reference: if you have a client who isn't co-operative, then it's best to say so right up front in the comments area, many here work with clients on a daily basis also and understand what clients are like :-) Your main task as a contest holder to is to give feedback - if you aren't getting it for individual entries, that's fine, but at least keep all designers abreast of what is happening....only way to instil trust in you as a contest holder... we'd all rather know that there is no feedback, but a winner will be awarded - than not knowing anything at all :-)

What an interesting conversation thread!! I can certainly understand why you Designers would want to know if there's a delay, and I've set a reminder for myself to ping contests daily from this point forward, whether there's anything to report or not. It may be the types of Clients that I attract, but they often disappear for SEVERAL days at a time, and when asked for feedback, have very few "actionable" comments. My biggest concern is taking advantage of Designers by asking several to tweak their designs, while ending up with only one winner. They almost always like "one element from this design, another element from that design" - would it be best to put those comments into the main comment thread here, so that everyone can see them, and Designers can decide whether to edit their Designs accordingly? Also, is there a more in-depth discussion of this stuff anywhere on the site? I don't want to get TOO analytical, but I certainly want to treat everyone fairly, and meet YOUR expectations as much as possible. 99designs is an AMAZING resource to me, and I'd love to see it continue to flourish! (Oh, one last thing - AztechDesigns, I'm really not the horrible human being that you may think I am - just a guy tryin' to make a living and do the right thing... if it doesn't appear that way, I guess it's out of my control...) Thanks to all for the time you took to reply!!! ~ Scott

Reply-to: 99designs Support (support@99designs.com)Hi,
This is a first off warning regarding your comments on the contest http://99designs.com/contests/11103 You are not helping this contest or other designers on the site by behaving in this way. If it happens again we will have to reconsider your membership at 99designs. Kind regards Nonie99designs Customer SupportHAHAHA Point proven.... Speak outta line and you recieve membership threats! I didn't even recieve a reply from 99staff when inquiring about the CHs contest until it was over (and well over 7 days I might add) But they're real quick to jump on me for voicing my opinion!! If anything I reconcider being a member if this is how you guys go about handling shady design firms...99Designs is not the end all, be all for me! (I don't take threats, besides I can always make another account) How does go Blowitoutyourear Designs sound??
