Brief Summary

I am a crisis/corporate communications professional with 23+ years of experience, and I'm ready to hang out my own shingle. I need a logo that will make me stand out from the zillion other communications consultants out there.

I'm bold, innovative, a great writer and someone you want in the trenches with you. I've handled crisis communications and been primary spokesperson for several Fortune 500s. I've been quoted everywhere - Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Financial Times, Reuters, Bloomberg, AP, you name it.

    Very confused by the elimination round.

    I will likely not be entering again in this one; however I felt I should comment on a couple of things.

    1. The star rating system is not useful if you rate everyone a 5 or eliminate them. Maybe it's a technique for crisis communication to make everyone feel happy but if you want a good design then appropriate feedback (in this case ranking and comments) are more appropriate. We're designers and can take a bit of an ego hit if there's something you don't like or would like to see us try.

    2. The designs themselves; I entered early in this competition which is obviously a mistake on its own, but people seriously need to lay off of the copying. Barely 15 entries have come in and there's already been 2-3 with the same symbolism and more with the same type configuration / color as what I entered being one of the first "5 star" entries. Designing is about being different and solving the 'problem' in new and unique ways, not looking for the highest rated design and trying to rip them off and pass it off as yours. For the sake of the people here who are new at this just a heads up. Copying people = copyright fines = $$$ = no fun.

    If you can't stomach it, pull your designs. I'm not interested in working with any head cases, let alone paying them.

    I'm not sure who that was directed at, if it was at me I already had pulled my entry before you stated that in the first place. The reason I had pulled it was not for lack of "stomaching" your contest, but because of all the copies from my original idea.

    Hell if I was a real "snark" of a sore loser I'd sue you for the $500 for the contest plus any money you're going to make off this company for copyright infringement on my original logo design. It's not exactly like lightning is the symbol for corporate communication.

    Congrats to the winner regardless. To the CH, I'm sorry you feel like you need to point fingers and call people names to feel good about your contest. I was honestly trying to help you run a better contest to achieve the best end product for your company, regardless of being copied. It's unfortunate this has come down to name calling and immature remarks against individuals instead of intelligent discussion on design.

    Good luck with your company, I won't sue you I promise.

    @M M Davidson: I believe it might be a good idea if you simply calmed down and kindly asked 99designs to delete your comments here.
    99designs seems to be well-liked by Google and is always featured prominently in their results.
    So if your potential customers see how you respond to justified, constructive pieces of advice not even criticism or something close to "crisis" in real life they might be somewhat ignorant about you being quoted in the Wall Street Journal.

    Presumably, you´re more used to face-to-face communication and got a lot of things just the wrong way. Regardless of what you might think of each and everyone´s designs skills, they have simply more experience with contests like these than you. No reason to get excited about.

    the logo that won sucks. Plus I think it will be illegal to copyright as the lightning used in that logo is a brush and therefore someone elses property. I dont think you'll be getting many clients because of your logo
