for the contest Web 2.0 for Professional Services
Submitted design #6
Here is my first submission. I have gone thru the brief and tried to incorporate most as required, with the old logo.
Let me know your feedback regarding the design. Its a nice contest and looking forward for the feeback.
Thanks,
Impz.
Can we get some feedback or stars please?
i think i'd like the "main" visual area, where you have the photo now, to be where the introductory information about the company is layed out. maybe integrated with imagery, like on www.mint.com
How abt the colors. Is the dark blue fine with white fine for you. If you give me tht details then i can chng it as per the need. Thnk you.

i think the colors are a little dark. the blues are a little too dark.
if you could take the "welcome to Cross Canyon" area to where the photo is, and maybe integrate a photographic element in a smaller portion of that area, and take the 2 buttons with it into that section, that would be preferred.
the vertical nav scheme looks very nice.
thnx for the feedback. I am working on it.
Submitted design #23
Here is my other try. Pls let me know the feedback while rating. So we can improve and bring it out to the CH taste.
excellent. this is looking great. I'll have specific feedback in a few hours, when I have a chance to sit down and make notes.
one comment: i'm a tad worried about how this changes when I want to add 2 or 3 more sections that will extend the navigation down further.
also, could you check the link to the istockphoto lightbox to see if you see any images that you think go well with your vision?
by the way, what you did with the "Welcome" section and the buttons is really great. I like that a lot.
as for colors, i think the blue is a little too teal.
in the content sections across the bottom, each section will need a "read more" link, and I think a graphical button of some sort would be nice for that.
on the "Welcome" title, could you try just "Welcome to Cross Canyon"?
or "Incorporation Services from Cross Canyon"
i know i can swap out copy later, but I'm asking now because the spacing of different copy made give us different amounts of room to accomplish other things in that section.
thanks again!!
Thnx for the feedback. For the menu section- I think if the navigation increases may be we can bring out a box from whr its now. I will show an example for tht. If not home and contact buttons can be moved up to the right of the logo and two menu items can be added thr.
I will work on the rest of the chngs and update.
Thanks,
Impz.
Submitted design #27
Hello Cross Crayon,
I have done the chngs which u had mentioned in the feedback. For the menu extentsion i tried to increase the height of the box but tht was distorting the design. So i have moved three links i.e Home, about us and contact at the top rightof the logo and inserted 3 extra links thr.
i have added the cogs img as background behind the image of the people standing. Pls let me know your opinion on ths.
I am not pretty sure whether ths blue on the banner is ok now or not. Is the blue used in the stock imgs u had mentioned is wht u want as background color for the banner?
I have added the read more links and chngd the title in the banner as Incorporation Services from Cross Canyon.
Let me know your opnion on the icons at the top right. I dont know whether you prefer icons or not.
Awaiting for the feedback so i can improve more and bring it up as per the requirement.
Thanks,
Impz.
Submitted design #28
Here is the original one.
The idea of putting the items from the navigation up on the uppoer right is a very good one. I think that will be a perfect way to expand as we add more to the site and need more real estate on the left vertical nav menu.
For now, I think we should ALSO have them in the left nav. That is, I think it's perfectly ok if we have those 3 links it both places.
icons look good.
On the sections titled "Our Clients" and "Testimonials", they are basically the same thing; not really two sections. so maybe we should bland the two sections into 1 and run 1 title across the area: "Testimonials from our Clients & Partners". And I like the accent you created with some words in orange. In this case, the words "Clients & Partners" should be orange, don't you think?
then in that section, i suppose we could float three logos for 3 partners/clients, with a short testimonial or excerpt under each? Maybe just floating text, or maybe 3 subtle boxes?
one more comment: the Read more buttons are great. could you do 2 things to them: make them a bit smaller and try a blue where the orange is. My reason for these requests are I want the larger buttons above to stand out as the most important actions.
As for the cogs background, sure, I think it looks nice. On my screen the blue bg to the left is lighter, more teal. Could you see if it can get closer to the cogs blue?
and for the image of the people, well, i think its a fine placeholder. I assume I will be able to swap and test other images on that layer later.
if you have time, could you see if one of the images from the lightbox would work? In particular, I'm thinking that the portrait perspective one with the man drawing on the glass might lay in nicely on top of the cogs. (#5985930) maybe not. (lightbox http://tinyurl.com/6zcobv)
thanks!!!

Hello CrossCanyon,
Thnx for the detailed feedback. I have chngd the blue in the banner. Pls let me know your opinion on the same. For the images i will be uploading three sample for the images.
First one is the same old image tht i had used before.
Second one is the one you had mentioned in the feedback. The prob with ths is the image had a white color background. I have made it transparent and used , but i strongly feel it doesnt stand out. All of the images have smae white bg.
Third on i have searched and found something similar may be u may prefer.
So pls let me know your feedback on the images after having a look at all three of them.
As told i have made the testimonials and clients as one section and reduced the button size of read more with blue bg.
Submitted design #32
Here is the second one.
Excellent.
I love the blue background. The testimonials section looks great. The Read more buttons are also great.
I think you are right about the image not working. The one you chose is certainly cleaner, but i'm not sure it conveys the right message. I will look around istockphoto some more.
The one you found, did this one work visually because istockphoto offered it with a clean transparent background? Or was it just easier to clean up? What qualities do you suggest i look for in a stock image?
thanks!
Matthew
Hello CrossCanyon,
Thanks for the feedback. The photo i choosed had white background. But was easier to remove and make it transparent.
I would suggest to look up for something which can be easily made transparent. For example the photo #5985930 when made transparent looses the quality i mean the black boxes in tht are not visible and it doesnt look professional. So we need something which doesnt looses the quality even if made transparent.
Even i will try to search in istock. And let you know if i can find something.
Meanwhile i would like to know any other further suggestions or feedbacks for improvement.
Thanks,
Impz.
this is great. I'll look around istockphoto more today.
perhaps the best thing to try, assuming we want to try one of these cool images where womeone is "whiteboarding" the complexity of an incorporation project on the glass, is to bland the background gradient from left to right into a white, or something silvery/grey. This will allow the black boxes to stand out better. thoughts?
and for what it's worth, i like the images with the woman at the glass, better than the guy.
but then again, i can always grab the hand from that image and blur out any model in the background in the future.
Hello CrossCanyon,
I will try and update with the gradient flowing from left to right and inserting an image.
Thanks,
Impz.
Submitted design #41
Here is something i have tried. I have uploaded 3 versions. Pls have a look and
let me know the feedback.
Thanks,
Impz.
Submitted design #42
Here is the other one.
Submitted design #43
3rd one.
s i think so we can look up for some image which fits like #31.
Anyother feedbacks or chngs require in my design then pls let me know.
Submitted design #46
Hello CrossCanyon,
I have given one more try on the image. Pls chk.
Thanks,
Impz.
If you think something like the latest design fits. then may be we can remove the icon and search for some women or man standing near the board. Awaiting fro the feedback.
Submitted design #51
The other one.
thanks!! can you try adding a gradient border to the site background?
let's go forward from #43. Can you try a couple things:
Could you try to make the nav menu a tad more contrasty. Make it stand out just a little bit more. can you also make the nav buttons/arrows, and their text, a bit smaller so they take up less horizontal space?
then, a friend suggested that we shouldn't have the "Founder" and "Clients & Partners" in orange, because orange should only be used for the primary action button. I agree.
thanks!
Submitted design #54
Here is my other attempt.
Submitted design #55
New Design
This new design #55 is really very nice. Making the header blue and the main area white gives us the blue accent I was hoping for, and also gives us more flexibility to use that image with the black flowchart.
The one thing that I miss from the other designs is the nav menu begin highlighted visually by being laid in arrows, with a special arrow highlight on the active page.
In this design, they kind of float, since this is centered without border.
I wonder if it would look good in one last way:
If, instead of repeating the grey and blue bg out to the left and right, what if you put this design into the box like your previous ones. Then made the nav menu align with the edge and go back to the arrow effect.
Possible?
also, I see that you had to darken the "Learn More" and "Get Started" buttons to give contrast with the lighter border. I think they are maybe jsut a little too dark.
the bottom section looks great. i like the darker gradient bg, and the subtle separaters between testimonials are nice.
for spacing alignment with the white line under the "Letter" title, I should mention that the title needs one more word: "Letter from the Founder"
thanks!
Thanks for the feedback. I will try my best to incorporate all the requirements and bring the best. Thanks once again.
Impz.
i'm staring at these some more... i think a hybrid is what we need.
= the bottom section on #55 is perfect (with the exception of the "the" to add and the lengthening of the line under it, as mentioned above.)
= i think i really like the main section as blue, like in #54. and the header in silver, like in 54.
so maybe we combine the header and main nav/content area from #54 with the bottom section of #55.
The problem with the photo is still there (the blue fade into a white bg photo), but maybe i'll just have to find a photo that works. but that should be my problem, not yours, right? :-)
Ok. I will integrate. And even try to help you out with the photo issue. I dont think so its your problem. Its our:) I will also try to find something.
Submitted design #62
Here is my other submission. I have removed the black boxes and redrewed the same. Let me know the feedback.
Thanks,
Impz.
