Congrats Kaka..
congratulations to the worthy winner!!!
congtaulation mr. kaka!!! send my regards to kak izan karangkraf... really awesome.
Thank you, everyone.
This has been a thrilling experience for me. I am so honored to have received all of your original artwork. I wish you all the best.
Gratefully,
Bev
Question, are these supposed to be drawn as line art so that they can be used as a coloring book? Or can we use greys as well...
Jojo,
The clouds and birds are great on the new boy with balloons. I can't tell what's in the road though.
Bev
Hey, everyone!
I've heard you and I respect your time and talents as artists. Consequently, after discussions with my partners, we've increased the prize money. I hope that entices more of you to submit your ideas.
Thanks, Meretrix for the professional viewpoint. For this project, we're not looking for very elaborate drawings. As I've said before, think about the very simple illustrations that use to fill the margins of Mad Magazines. We want something like that, only ever so slightly bigger. The coloring challenge that we'll be asking of the kids on these pages is only a snippet of the greater task--- which is learning to print. We'll get to real coloring pages at another time.
Hope this is satisfactory. I am truly enjoying your inventiveness, especially in such a long but thin canvas. In fact, if you all don't mind, I would prefer this size for all the pictures. The rest of the alphabet printing page has already been laid out leaving room for this addition at the bottom.
My apologies to all those artists who have been working on a more vertical layout. I'm not ruling them out, but if you can create a silly panorama (even if most of it is background stuff), it would fit better.
Thanks.
Bev
The contest holder has increased the prize from $425 to $600, fully prepaid to 99designs.
I believe the style of the work (very simple, lines only) might establish the CH's prize money still within the professional range.
I know 'coloring book' illustrators are often paid less than a Children's Book full water-color illustrator, for example. Because of color application they're putting in more hours to be billed in the end.
hmmm
I see designers here....

do you not think that the bulk load is too much for the money? just a thought. $425 for 62+ items. much work, little money. that could be what is keeping the designers away. i am not trying to rain on the CH's parade, but it has to be considered.
im working on my entry. one suggestion to ch, why not give a designer only 5 or 10 designs to finish and the chosen winner will come to finish the remaining designs. the winning designer will then receive the prize money only if all the other artworks are delivered. that way you can have more designers to participate in your contest. the bulk of the work to be done in the contest duration keeps them all away. its just a thought anyway. thanks!
CH, you want all the alphabet plus numbers for 425? Just a question.
Great!! The cow towing the canoe is right on. So are the boy and balloon series. You're really capturing the whimsical feel we're looking for. And the alligator on his back is perfect too.
The long horizontal ones are really a challenge, but the background scenery gives kids something to color as well. For me, small intricate coloring items make this a better fine motor exercise all around.
Keep up the great work. Can't wait to see more.
Bev
Cute. I like #6 and 8. Is it possible to do one upright and the other in a landscape layout? I realize that it's a odd and difficult size, but perhaps the alligator could be lying on his back with a tummy ache.
Just a thought. You're doing great.
Bev
PS I don't need the alphabet letter in the picture. It's already all over the page.
