It is appropriate to say it in front of some of the "inexperienced" designers, because its them who get taken advantage of. My issue was if you had opened the contest for $150 you would have had alot more to choose from. More designers who have been eager to participate. But hey, what do I know.

I totally understand your frustration but as I mentioned to you in PM, I was not quite sure about the amount of prize money I got to set as this is my first icon contest. Also I did mention in my contest, if the prize money is too low please feel free to name your price. Moreover immediately after posting the contest, I wanted to change the prize money to $100 instead of $75, (as after reviewing my own contest after posting, I myself kind of felt, $75 is too low) but the edit contest form did not allow me to change the amount. I even contacted sitepoint team to find out a way to increase the prize money. Unfortunately it looks like I cannot change the prize money after posting, which is why I updated the prize money in the title and the body of the contest to $100. Finally I have been in touch with the two entrants by PM and I awarded the prize to adnanza for $150.

I think I am being fare and there is no reason for you to show your frustration on the whole world. Even if somebody could have done it for $50, I don't think its appropriate the way you have reacted. Everyone has the right to name their price. If you are confident on your quality of work, you dont need to worry that other people are taking away your work.

Finally, it would be very helpful if the sitepoint could provide some helpful tips on setting the prize money based on the number of icons or so. And don't worry, I am still taking your comments (concerns) as part of constructive criticism.

Here is the funny thing. Had you offered a more fair price to begin with you would have gotten alot better entries, as some of the more advanced designers would have risen to the challenge. I mean wow 2 entrants, but you got what you were looking for, and that appears to be someone who makes it hard for real designers by giving away their work for $2-3 an icon? Im sorry if I sound out of line, but there are some of us who are tired of people expecting everything for nothing, and then also putting 150% in on these contests only to have the contest holder abandon it or suspend it. It's keeping the prices fair that makes up for the wasted time on those abandoned contests.

To all of you who entered this contest this contest was asking for 35 ICONS for $75 Mr.Fresh & Adnanza you both should hold your head in shame by even considering allowing any business come here and disrespecting the value of your work, you entered a contest for $2 an icon. I know I am one of many who feel this way and its people like you 2 that make it next to impossible to get any kind of money thats even close to the value of the work we put out. It's simply an outrage.

I think I will start a Online Graffix Union. Someone has to teach these rookies about the do's and don'ts. All you are doing when you allow a contest holder to degrade the value of your work by holding a contest with such a low prize, is cutting your throat and all the designers on this site, world wide.

    Let it be known,
    IMPERIAL SHARK

Well after alot of hard work i have finally managed to design all the icons. I am ready to give these icons to u if u are willing to pay $150. I think $100 are to less for this kind of work. Here are some of the sample icons.

realistically, you are looking for 35 icons x 2 sizes x 2 colorways = 140 images. in addition, the icons themselves are not easily 'done on the fly' once a template is created; an image has to be drawn for each icon before it is placed in the template, saved at both sizes and then saved in both colorways for each size. that is far too much time and labor for the price you are offering if you indeed want quality work, which i am sure you do. for this to be done well, you are probably looking at $8-10 dollars per icon, or roughly $280-350.

Even though you say the icons all are based on a template, one still has to create a different "corner" image on each icons aswell.. So I'm afraid you won't get any worthy entries with this prize amount.
