CloseDesign brief
I wrote AuctionSieve because I was spending too much time on eBay paging through thousands of results.
AuctionSieve collects all the results of an eBay search into one table. More importantly, it's then super easy to filter out the crap - select a word/phrase and hit the trash button. Items containing that phrase will disappear from the results list and are listed as trash in all future searches. Then you can concentrate on the good stuff and find the bargains.
The app is now popular all over the world and people really love using it. Many have commented on how ugly the current icon is, so it's about time I gave it a real one rather than the sad attempt I made 7 years ago.
I'm a Java contractor but my main passion is AuctionSieve. It helps a lot of people and I'd like to increase it's attractiveness.

AuctionSieve
Mainly collectors who scour eBay daily for bargains. They want to perform advanced searches and heavily filter the results. They're looking for the hidden bargains and rare finds.
People who run the program every day will see the icon every day.
The icon will feature on well-known websites like zdnet, tucows, cnn downloads and other shareware websites.

Concepts:
Filtering is the main concept I want to convey through this icon.
Think eBay, bargains, search results, filtering (in multiple ways), junk and rare sought after items.
At this stage I have no particular colour palette in mind. I'll provide feedback as we go.
Icon must be 512x512 px - for Macs (to stand up against other icons on the dock), PCs and Linux. I have a future version planned for the iPad and iPhone.
I'll be updating my website and the app to a more visually appealing and exciting look in the near future. I'm hoping this icon will springboard the process.
