Thank you everyone for a great contest! While we have our main header graphic, a site like DragonSlayer can always use good imagery. Please PM me if you'd like to discuss having your artwork used in other places on the site. You can also sign up for the announcement list to find out when we open and to leave general feedback at the site:

    Thank you!

Ok, I've removed from consideration the images that didn't work for one reason or another: missing elements, not unique, not usable as a header / logo, missing core elements, etc. It's clear that I really want many of the images displayed here, so let's find a way to work together.

Alos like to point out that I know that font and there are several dragons in it that are taken
from official logos so just cause you got it in a font you need to do your homework seeing where
the actual design is from. I seen one guy on here try to sell the mortal kombat gamr dragon logo
cause he got it from a font and not mistake the same font that this little beasty is also in.

Copyright subsists for a variety of lengths in different jurisdictions, with different categories of works and the length it subsists for also depends on whether a work is published or unpublished. In most of the world the default length of copyright for many works is generally the life of the author/artist plus either 50 or 70 years. Copyright in general always expires at the end of the year concerned, rather than on the exact date of the death of the author/artist.

The thing is you can't take fonts symbols for granted as ones like the dragons were ether logos or
art work. You need to read the read me file with the fonts as 90% say not for sale or to be sold and
usig that in a contest is selling it that is why fonts are not to be sold. I wish there was somewhere
they could teach all the non professional designers ethics on the use of copyrighted material and the
time table when it truly is free to use. You will be suprised how many years any art design or creation
is protected. After saying this you all that think using dingbat images are safe to use will one day
run into the owner or the person you pawned it off on with a copyright infringement law suite and you
then will see how much it will truly cost you in the thousands of dollars in fines. One thing I learned
in school is always cover your butt so you never will lose it.

    Hey, xpoint9 and Power Slave you might want to change your dragon as that is a rip from of this logo here;
http://schoolweb.psdschools.org/cen…/stars.htm I'm sure you can create a better one.
Now this is getting bad when I had to say something about this very same dragon logo on another contest
    by another contestant.

People know what they are doing when they take someone else's work and tweak it and sell it off as their own. My work is 100% created by me. Getting inspired by someones idea and creating something new that has elements that resemble but aren't from someone else's work is common place and accepted by all designers. You are kidding yourself if you think it's a designers job to go online and download other peoples art then rework it for their clients. Unfortunately contests that end up like this one has with the blatant rip offs drive people away from sitepoint, can you blame them? Who wants to set themselves up for a lawsuit?

djb28 you pulled the design so there is no harm no foul. The only reason I said anything was the fact that you used
a logo that I knew cause I use the software that the logo came from. Nothing wrong fromgetting inspiration from other
logos as long as your logo or design doesn't look exactly or too close to the orginal design that anyone can reconize
it for what it is. I used the wording Swiping cause it is a better word then calling out thief. People take and use
images all the time for wallpapers and most companies don't care, but they do care if the wallpaper is being sold for
profit. Contest fall under for profit and fall under copyright infringement laws. Sorry if you took my wording as
me calling you a thief as I wanted you to know what you were doing was wrong in your creation.

I'm sure 70% of vector entries here are inspired from an existing picture. So Im not really sure who deserves to be signled out. Most of us have practice tracing, inscribing, outlining, source of inspiration... whatever you call it. It just depends on how you make it your own. If it is, then we might be accusing each other of simple things - when some certain ideas are part of the general domain.
