Hi there! I am thrilled to be running a second print of my book Oh, shift! How to change your life with one little letter. Visit http://www.ohshift.com for more info.
(What does Oh, shift! mean? …Oh, shift isn’t just a play on words, it is actually a very practical way to change your reaction. Choosing the way you react to anything that happens can change the way that event unfolds.
The f’in shift stands for Flip Find or Freak. These are your f’in strategies that help you choose reactions that serve you, not defeat you. In a nutshell)
In this second edition I want to "upgrade" the look of the first cover. That said, I am open to new concepts while keeping the following in mind:
-the "f" being inserted into "shit" somehow is good. I want to keep that concept.
-a recognizable yet appropriate symbol different than the splat/kapow symbol that is currently used. It would be great if this symbol could be brandable enough to be understood that it belonged to Oh, shift! even when it stood alone. (ie, nike swoosh)
-It is an amazon best seller so I'd like it to be mentioned on the front in a tasteful way.
-I'd like to incorprate a testimonial somewhere that makes good design sense. Here Is the quote "Witty, clever, laugh-out-loud funny, but serious lessons on how you really DO have the power to change your life. This book is phenomenal!” –Richard Fenton & Andrea Waltz, authors, Go for no!
-For simplicity, the back cover elements can remain the same with the website being changed to ohshift.com (not .net as it is now) You can play with layout and design as you see fit, however I think the picture should remain. See attached file for artwork.
-the book offers a very solid message written in a very cheeky style (see attached file for an excerpt. Notice the non-traditional layout and use of font. People LOVE this about the book.)
-I think Malcolm Gladwell’s book covers are awesome. Blink, Outliers, Tipping Point.
-My target audience is men AND women ages 20-60. I speak (and sell in back of room) to mostly corporations and organizations (intel, state farm, xerox etc and some non-rpofits and industry associations.)
-the book is a 6x9 paperback...most likely with a matte finish
-I like classy designs but not stuffy. Hope that makes sense. I love unexpected and fun but it’s got to be respectable in design.
I can't wait to see what you all come up with!!
