Description

I need a book cover for the first book in my young adult trilogy. It should be in the style of popular young adult fiction covers such as the ones in attached file 'sample_covers.zip'

I need Photoshop CS3 compatible RGB files with all layers intact and unlocked, including adjustment layers and editable Type layers. (I may change the title before publication.) I want exclusive rights for digital and print reproduction, including but not limited to websites, ebook retailers, book covers, bookmarks, business cards, totes and other promotional materials.

All images should have a minimum resolution of 300 DPI. I want the colors to pop against the dark grey background of the new Kindle Fire eReader and have a high enough contrast to look good on the older, black and white Kindles.

Photographs should be used. Digital appearance is as important as print.

Novel Details:

Title: 1 Wish Away (This is a Young Adult Paranormal Romance Novel)Author: Ingrid BustamanteThe novel has already been popular among a teen audience in HarperCollins former website inkpop.com (now part of Figment.com)

As Marielle’s bloody tears seep into a magical stone tablet, a tantalizing breeze caresses her neck and Zet, a dark, sexy Djinn, materializes at her side. Finding her unprepared to make a wish, he beguiles and romances her with his drop-dead gorgeous looks, stalling her to prolong his freedom. But Marielle isn’t one to trust romantic advances, especially from arrogant mythical beings, and certainly not when strange accidents begin to threaten her life at every turn.

By releasing Zet, she has unwittingly inserted herself into the middle of a centuries-old mortal conflict between two cursed Djinns. To break the spell, Zet must find true love, but his brother Faris only seeks release through revenge and power and plans to trap Zet for all eternity by killing Marielle. Unknown to Marielle, he intends to rule the world by joining forces with Akeelah, an ancient being who wants to establish a new Djinn order on Earth.

While Marielle fights to stay alive with Zet‘s help, she devises a plan to defeat Faris. But when the mad Djinn kidnaps her best friend, she’s faced with the difficult choice of saving Zet, the Djinn she’s grown to love, or sacrificing someone she cares for. Meanwhile, Akeelah has already set in motion the coming of the new Djinn Empire and the entire earth shivers to the sound of its roar.

Cover Element Ideas:I'd like to communicate a sense of romance and danger. You have freedom to try different ideas. The one below sticks very well to important elements of the story.

Element#1: An oak-lined path with a house in the end. The specific location is Oak Alley Plantation (Photo attached) If used, I will acquire permission from the Plantation to use the photo. I've looked into it already. This element shouldn't stand out too much; it should tend toward dark hues, more suggestive than anything. Perhaps blend in such as in sample_cover_1.jpg

Element#2: A 17-year-old-girl with black hair, green eyes and olive skin. She's wearing a green gown in a similar shade of the one attached. At the bottom, the gown should flow and sort of dissolve, looking as if it is being stirred by a powerful wind. The girl must wear a gold necklace with a pendant in the shape of an acorn (See attached sample)

Title: 1 Wish Away (The font should have a flowing feel, but not too much, just slightly. It must be readable. The number '1' should stand out, I'd like to see how the word 'one' would look inside the number itself)

Author: Ingrid Bustamante (In a more contemporary font and in caps as in sample covers)

Spine: Must include the PenDreams logo at the bottom (attached eps files)

The girl, the green gown and the pendant MUST appear in the cover.

The cover must follow the guidelines listed in the link below https://www.createspace.com/Product

The book will be 6"x9". The spine's width should be 1.2875"

Further requirements

If you use any stock images make sure to make that clear and declare them. If they are not, I reserve the right to eliminate the design. Thank you!
