Passionate sports fans have a lot to say about their favorite sports teams, players, leagues etc. If they express themselves freely on places like Facebook, they're spamming the rest of their friends who're not interested. And the rest of sports sites are for strangers arguing with strangers.
People follow sports for the love of sports. They don't get paid for it. They just love it. It adds spice to their lives.
We help passionate sports fans keep up their zest for sports. We help them share and relive sports moments together, entertain and educate one another.

This mobile application will
(a) feature sports news feeds about the user's favorite sports, teams, players, analysts etc.
(b) help them chat with their friends about sports, and see a running history (like a Facebook wall) about their conversations.
(c) help them view their friends' sports updates, recommendations etc.
(d) not see any of the sports or topics they're not interested in (e.g. Google +)
(e) pen their favorite sports stories / moments
(f) all friend updates, chats, stories are only visible to the parties involved and their friends if invited, not to search engines or other users.
(g) initial app will be on iPhone and Android.

Things that have already been decided
1- Mobile App will receive sports feeds & friend updates based on user preferences (favorite sports, teams, players, analysts, clubs, countries, frequency of updates, times of day etc.)
2- this is a closed social network. Only sports articles that are received using RSS feeds are publicly viewable. To comment, one has to become a member.
3. Target Users : Busy people with day jobs, families and the like. Mostly male, but not only. Age 25-55. Language: English. Education: Mostly college-educated. Other sites: Facebook.
Everything else, you are free to use your creativity with.
Apps we like - Pulse News (neat organization of content, nice sliders), Bleacher Report, BBC Radio, FlySmart (sliders), RealMadrid app (player carousels, video integration), Yelp & LinkedIn (organization of content), Facebook (messages in wall format with historical context).
Apps we don't like - FanFeedr (bad UI/organization),
Would like to release the app in 2 phases. And would like the design to be matched. Also, when in doubt the Master List (PDF) wins.
